Soapweed: What's the price of Dectomax this fall? They've started advertising new pricing-contact your vet for details up here.......guess the generic ivermectins have taken a big slice of their market!!

Very good pictures Soapweed. I am off to vaccinate another bunch this AM. We set up in a fence corner, where we could do our last bunch in the same spot later on. We have always worked them in a corral, so I hope it works ok. This setup has a straight alley, instead of a tub, but it worked very well in the corral we used the other day, so I hope it works equally well on the range.

We give Titer Vac 5 PHM, and 7 way with Haem. shots to the calves. No pour on at this time, but I think yesterday morning got some of the flies. My pickup themometer hit 25 in some of the low spots on the way to help a neighbor.

Looks like they got 'er handled in fine shape, Soapweed.
It looks like it was a beautiful day. Calves look really heavy and the
cows are fat.

What's the bay horse, Saddletramp is riding? Don't think I've seen
him before.

It was a beautiful day here too. Mr. FH went to help process about 300 head yesterday.
It said it was the perfect day to do it. The cows didn't want to gather, but
once they got them it went good. The mother of the man who owns the
cattle brought out lunch. She's done that a lot in her lifetime, and had a special old square insulated container that kept the chili hot. She made sandwiches and had a HUGE apple pie. He said that was probably the best apple pie he had ever tasted!! Anyway, she said when that old square container was done, so was she. You could tell it had been used a whole bunch!! He was sure in a good mood when he got home. Days like that
are fun. Good people, good food and a beautiful day horseback can't be beat.

Soap:

Thanks so much for posting your doings and the great pics. I have to ranch between the 8 hours a day I have to spend in the office and it sure makes the day go by looking at your stuff.

Again, thanks--great looking cattle, pasture, and crew.

Great weather makes a job like that so much easier!

Seeing Peach Blossoms working table reminds me I have to track down another of those. I used one for mineral in the broodmare field this summer. Triple screwed a rubber tub to the top and then ran two T-stakes threw drilled holes in the bottom - kept them from pawing at/over the tub. The rubber tub idea might not be such a good idea for anybody that gets rain though. I put out a weeks worth at a time but in a field that was closer I'd ration it for fewer days.

Well leave it to me to miss this post! Looked like you picked a great day to work them steers soapweed...they look great...and you're crew isn't half bad either...lol Sure hope you got the rain we did over the weekend...right at 2 inches...This morning when the sun came up, the meadows looked all refreshed and green again like in the spring. I just hope it stays this way for awhile cause we're gearing up to start weaning in another 2 wks,,and being the fair/weather person I am...I prefer to work cattle on warm sunshiney days...lol

Fasterhorses, you were asking about the bay horse I was riding. He is one of my own. He's a four year old that is a greatgrandson to Three Bars on the top side and goes back to a double bred Red robin on the bottom side.

He's a real sweetheart, fairly cowy, good traveler and gentle with no buck. He's only got one little problem that is why he's still in the bozal and will be ridden in that till he gets it figured out. He's young and learning and I've got all the time in the world.

If he never gets out of the bozal, that's fine with me, he's still a pretty sweet mount.
