on Paul Harvey today, he spoke of the years before WWII, how these two countries prepared for war, looking into every possible avenue that would need defended, and where each country was vulnerable. how each country would be crippled by stopping the shipping lanes, and taking out strategic structures.

the two were very cautious of each other. and it appeared there was alot of mistrust between the two.

the two countries were Canada and the United States!!!

well think about it, 90% of the Canadian population is massed within 100 miles of the US border... Obviouslly they are preparing to storm the border (Very bad movie reference from Canadian Bacon)..

Do find it interesting that there was that serious of a level of distrust.

I wondered if there was a national incident to spark this kind of preparations or what the driving force was behind it.

I am sure it was not the French population in Canada .... we all saw how the French fight!

I understood it was because no one knew for sure which side the US would end up fighting for. In the end it was the that allies figured that if we owed the US more money than anyone else, they would come and protect thier interests.

How is this different from today? There are still military officers in both countries who spend their careers planning to defend against/attack the other.

Hey we marched down and burned the White house once. If we had done it during the Clinton years he might have burned to death hiding under the desk with Monica.

  I pictured that Seinfeld episode were George knocked over the old lady, women and children to get out of the apartment that was on fire. I could see Cowardly Bill in that role.

I'm just reading 'The Fall of Stalingrad' -unbelievable what went on there. I think the U'S has a lot more things to worry about than Canada and vice versa. Paul Harvey has been known to B.S. a time or two himself-and that'sssssss the rest of the story lol.
