I hope that more and more of this discussion comes to the surface. I am just amazed that so many people have jumped on the Obama bandwagon. He has offered nothing but rhetoric and talk of change. He denies any Muslim connection but who wouldn't. In my eyes it simply is not worth the risk. What if he really did have a Muslim connection and became President? He's already soft on defense. I am not fond of the others either but, at least, they are American. Obama is scary.
I really wonder what you are talking about. Do you have any idea? Is Hawaii part of America? I think it is a state of the Union but maybe you could clarify it. His mother was born in KS of American parents. McCain wasn't even born in America. Obama has NEVER denied any Muslim connections. He has said many times that he went to a Muslim school for awhile when he was about 6 years old in a country that is 95% Muslim which tells me there are probably very few other kinds of schools there. He is a Christian. Are you? What has Hillary or McCain offered? McCain has only offered more of the same crap we have had for 7 and a half years. Not sure what Hillary has offered except she keeps talking about experience but hasn't said what that experience is. None of them have experience being president so they are all even as far as I am concerned. How do you figure he is soft on defense? Because he said that we should put our resources into Afghanistan where al Qaeda was residing instead of Iraq? Maybe had bush done that, OBL would not still be around.

so your saying issues don't matter... ???
Change IS the issue.

Change is not always a good thing, a rancher might decide to change his terminal bull from a Char to Dexter that is change but I doubt it would be good change come time to sell them calves at the sale!

Positive Change in Washington is something we would all like to see, but to trust someone blindly to make change with out ever hearing any substance on what change is pure stupid!
That is what we do every four years. Even this last four years, we had to elect someone without any experience. You have to get OJT when you are elected President.

In a world where Muslims are considered both our strongest allies (Saudi Arabia, the Royal Family of Kuwait, Dubai, Jordan, Indonesia, etc) and our greatest enemies. I think it would be wise to have someone in the Oval Office that does not have a knee jerk reaction to Muslims. And do not think that Muslims move in lock step with each other......to do so would be to ignore the history of Iraq and Iran (which dumya did). From what I heard last night, Obama is NOT soft on defense (If, as you say, he has Muslim tendencies, show me a pacifist or non-military oriented Muslim anywhere in the world.....I don't think the "Prince of Peace" means anything to them). I will be happy to have a President that can articulate (tell dumya to say that fast three times) a direction and is willing to leave it to the peoples representatives (we call it Congress) to develop the programs to implement the vision.

I think you should think twice before you support a President who plans on being at war for 100 years at the cost of $275,000,000 a day. Unless, of course, you have plans to pay the bill as it comes due.

The fact that you think there is Muslim nations that are of our STRONGEST allies, shows how ignorant you are on this subject.

Anyone can articulate things if they go around spouting out feel good phrases. True articulation will be how he can talk about the meat and potatoes of this countries needs instead of lifting from others. I have a dream is nice and emotional and all, but a true president finds a way to let Iran know if they don't quit what they are doing it will be no more dreams for them.
Do you not think any rightwingers quote other people from time to time? Your minister does it every Sunday! You gonna tell him to come up with some original thoughts?

Think about it........it might hit you like a lightning bolt.

I feel sorry for you if you can't figure it out on your own. Let's pretend it's your homework..................you learn so much more when you figure it out on your own instead of having someone give you the answers.

You don't know either, huh? You made the statement, you back it up. You seem to be a rightwingnut racisit to me. Don't get too excited and make a remark that the Secret Service might not understand.

Well one thing positive..............you always live down to my expectations.

I just can't wait for your answer to RR's question.

Not trying to stir the pot, but I am concerned by some of the statement that Obama's Church makes..

I would not join the KKK because of their position on Race, even if they did alot of charitable work... so how are some of Trinity's comments acceptable just because it is from a minority church?

About Us

We are a congregation which is Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian... Our roots in the Black religious experience and tradition are deep, lasting and permanent. We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land," the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. God has superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racism. It is God who gives us the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a congregation. We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community.

The Pastor as well as the membership of Trinity United Church of Christ is committed to a 10-point Vision:

1. A congregation committed to ADORATION.
2. A congregation preaching SALVATION.
3. A congregation actively seeking RECONCILIATION.
4. A congregation with a non-negotiable COMMITMENT TO AFRICA.
5. A congregation committed to BIBLICAL EDUCATION.
6. A congregation committed to CULTURAL EDUCATION.
7. A congregation committed to the HISTORICAL EDUCATION OF AFRICAN PEOPLE IN DIASPORA.
8. A congregation committed to LIBERATION.
9. A congregation committed to RESTORATION.
10. A congregation working towards ECONOMIC PARITY.

Maybe some one can explain how if you take the "emotional argument" away, and look at the statements, that they are not any different then any other racist organization?

His posting record points to him being rightwing and the quality points to him being a nut and his remarks and insinuations about the Untied Christian Church point to him being racist. Anything else?

I don't see their visions any different than some of the church beliefs and activities that we see in our old German Mennonite communities with the churchs promotion of old German culture and their Schmeckfests- or in some to the Norwegian communities churches with their Norwegian teachings, lutefisk dinners, and promotions...Then we have the Hooterites- that don't even speak English when on the colony- but are built around the Church, which is actually the owner of everything they have....

You'd probably blow a gasket if you went into one of our seven Indian Reservations churchs that have full traditional dress and drums during some of their services...That takes part of the collection money/Bingo games money to fund Indian projects thruout North America....

We live in a diverse country- with each community having their own diverse special interests and goals....Their visions are not the same as mine- but just because they are not, doesn't necessarily make them evil or it an evil conspiracy.....

I doubt I would blow a gasket.. nor do I feel Trinity is evil.. let alone an evil conspiracy?

every denomination and ethnic group should be allowed a bit of ethnic pride and self worth.. be it Black, native American,, German.. but if we drop off the German, or other ethnic name, and only used the descriptive "white European" or GOD forbid.. "White" we would be blasted as racist..

if accepting Trinity's written word and their use of the wording,... is it acceptable to then chastise other groups as racist?

Two points I see where his church has aproblem and am surprised that no on mentioned it.

A congregation with a non-negotiable COMMITMENT TO AFRICA.
Can none not the the US should come first.............after all they are running for prez of the US

A congregation working towards ECONOMIC PARITY
In other words socialism.

Some questions for schnurrbart

You have to be more specific.......a blanket statement like that is silly to say the least

Do you believe in Affirmative action schnurrbart?

One last chance to show me a racist statement I made or forever shut your liberal mouth with your juvenile accusations

After they get done ignoring Passing Thru's questions maybe one of the enlightened liberals could explain this comment..

We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land,"

if they are an "African people" and remain true to Africa..
do they not support the US?

If we go to war with an African country, who would they side with?

But more importantly if Obama,.. believes his faith... who would he side with.. His faith says... "We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land,"..

As President his duty is to the American people..and the Constitution of the United States... not Africa...

so is Obama a member of a organization that is consistent with the office he hopes to hold? or is his allegiance with Africa?...
