Pretty Cool

The "Hostile Native" and I took a bale of hay Wright town today for a friend who had run out. After they finished yacking and we ran an errand I had to fuel up the old feed truck. The "Native" went in to prepay and I waited at the pump. While I was waiting this car pulled up and this tall grey haired gentleman stepped out to fill up also. I was watchin' and thinking I knew him from somewhere. He was wearing a belt buckle that said Wyoming (something). I couldn't tell what. It also had a buckin' horse logo like everything else in Wyoming. He went in to pay and then I figured out what the second word on his belt buckle said, "Wyoming Governor". I waved at the "Native" to come here. When she got out to the pump I asked her if she knew who the tall guy was. "Nope", she says. I told her,"That's the Governor". He came back out and after turning the pump on he came over and started talking. I introduced myself and when we shook hands he said,"Just call me Dave". We talked for a little bit and I must say, I thought it was pretty cool. He just left office due to term limits and now Matt Mead is the strawboss. While Dave Freudenthal was governor though, he went to every funeral of the fallen soldiers who were killed in the war. I'm not sure how many other governors did or do that. But due to Wyomings size, not only was he able to do it, he did do it. I was pretty impressed to see the Governor filling his own tank.

I got this E mail a while back. It fits here pretty good.

When I saw him at a couple of military funerals impressed me a lot. Then today, he acted gracious and friendly, I was impressed again. Eventhough he is a democrat he's a good guy. I voted for him and would have again. The dems in Washington could sure learn some things from him.

I can't claim to be much of a fan of Matt Meads. And from what you just said Jody, it don't sound as if he had much in the way of positive male role models. I can't even stand it when a man has his wife run the gas pump. Chivalry and manners aren't a bad thing to have.

Thinking back to my Wy days, I was always impressed with the political figures that state produces, most impressed with Alan Simpson as Senator, even got to meet him. And even as controversial as James Watt was, he wasn't that bad of a guy, was he?

I guess James Watt was before I moved here. You won't find too man Simpson fans around anymore, after he said what he did about senior citizens.

I USED to like Alan Simpson...he really stepped in it now tho...acts
like another liberal.

I remember Cliff Hanson too. And remember the governor that was
nominated as Secretary of Interior? He left for DC but didn't stay
long...he was just too darn honest. After while, I'll remember his
name and edit this post....maybe someone can help me out here... :?
OH, I JUST REMEMBERED...it was Stan Hathaway.

I think most of the political figures in Wyoming have their heads
screwed on pretty straight. They even let one Wyoming politican
talk on Fox News.... :p[/i]
