An interesting observation is that his actions not only hurt "real people engaged in a law abiding venture," as stated by the judge, but he also hurt REAL animals, since 14 animals were confirmed killed (and were probably in a state of terror at the time) and 20 were never accounted for, and likely also did not survive because they would not have had the skills to live in the wilds. The true terrorism was inflicted on the animals. So for the sake of "making a statement," this person ignored the real cost of his actions on the welfare of the animals. The same happened when an animal rights group hit a research institution … years ago and released a group of research coyotes who were part of a nutrition study. These animals, who had been raised from pups by people, had no ability to survive outside the research enclosure. Several traumatized animals stood outside their enclosure the next morning asking to be let back in and the rest were killed by cars as they ran in a panic through the countryside. So when it is expedient for an animal rightist to use and abuse animals to "make a point," they are just as willing to ignore the needs and welfare of individual animals as the worst animal abuser. A true concern for animal WELFARE, would have put the needs of the individual animals first and would never have exposed them to such trauma.
