Prosecutors: Boy Planned 'Political' Shooting in Montana
By The Associated Press on Sat 02/02/2013 06:54am
BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) - Prosecutors say a 14-year-old boy accused of bringing two handguns to a Montana high school told authorities he wanted to show people "you don't need an assault rifle to shoot up a school."
The boy was arrested Jan. 25 after another student tipped off Harrison High School officials. They found a .357 Magnum, a .22 caliber handgun and 47 rounds of ammunition in the boy's backpack.
KTVM-TV reported Friday prosecutors filed court documents that said the boy was considering using the guns in a school shooting "for political reasons."
The documents say the boy "was going to show people that it could be done with a couple of handguns."
A judge has entered a plea of "not true" on the boy's behalf to a criminal endangerment charge.
