Problems with the Government.....rant

How can the government spend millions of dollars building shelters for pregnant girls, and yet only have a few bucks for the homeless war veterans who fought for our lives, and all the thanks THEY get is living out in the slums?? What did those prostitutes do for us, besides helping repopulate the world with their offspring who, will likely end up getting killed by illegal drugs and other criminal activities, in the mean time "heroes" that risked their lives for their country don’t even have a roof over their heads??

Can't those women learn enough, be TAUGHT enough to keep their bloody legs closed??

It's sure some way to be remembered: "Yes, thanks for fighting for this country, here's your medal, have a nice trip home..." ....And yet, here's this now-turned war veteran with a brand spankin' new medal to bear on his/her chest, with no home, everything lost: family friends....everything, all because he/she chose to bear arms and fight for us, because he/she HAD NO CHOICE but to fight!! And then, all of a sudden this honorable, unsung hero has NO CHOICE but to live on the streets, begging for money and food, suffering day in and day out, perhaps suffering worse than he'd ever done in his/her life! All because the government turned its back on these people, to help the "more important" people on the streets, and pretended they, these homeless veterans, didn't even exist, promising questioning press and letters that come flooding in to the Prime Minister's desk that they'd do something about these homeless vets....and doing nothing.

Oh, and one other thing. Besides failing to provide pensions and a better life for these homeless war vets, what about services for those suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder?? Haven't soldiers coming home from wars where they had to see mutilated bodies from genocides, watch their brothers-in-arms get killed by a road-side bomb, suffered through hell trying to get through No-Man's-Land, have had this disorder before? And why hasn't the government been doing much, if anything at all, about this since they learned it has become a growing problem??

Is this really how you want your tax dollars spent?

Thanks everyone for letting us rant here.

Mrs. Greg, we shouldnt have posted this with out proven facts, we were just talking about it, and it seems to be the truth, when your walking down a street in a big city how many homeless mothers with babies do you see? And then how many homeless vets do you see? There is always talk on the news about another women shelter, but you never hear anything about vet shelters, i guess we should have done more research before posting, but we just wanted to see how many felt the same.

I understand you girls feelings :) I can't give you a bunch of facts,a couple maybe....my sis's brother-in-law was a peace keeper, when he returned home he was a guard for one of our Prime Ministers, unfortunaly at the time the soldiers weren't debriefed properly and suffers from post trumatic stress syndrom.....hes well looked after,he gets councelling,a very excellent pension...hes only 44. Soldiers only have to serve three years and can retire after or before some sort of work training, then they also get a pension.I'm assuming your right thier are homeless vets out there but there are also homes for vets.

I feel so very sorry for the children your talking about and I assume some of the money that goes to these places have the children in mind.

You girls are very very right in the fact there are way too many times our government has thier heads up thier butts and thier focus is way out in left field...stay vocal,we need young people like you two with thier values and ideals on the right track. :)
