Public reading (criticism?)

Angus Cattle Shower

Well-known member
I have been asked to read two of my best peices that I have written in Creative writing tonight at the library for a gathering of people before another author reads a part of some publication. The piece I wanted some criticism on is the one i finished last night, I called it, The murder of Will.

The murder of Will.

The man furrowed his brow
Grimacing through the strain
Tightening the bolt on the plow
It was driving him insane

A Wil-rich, it said
That he got new in ‘84
Now looked at with dread
Hating it to the core.

The oil lines leaked
And a tire is flat
It’s prime had peaked
And worked like scat

He drove into town
In the rusted out truck
The man shopped around
To replace the old cluck

He saw many plows
Of red, green, and blue
One that could take many blows
But which, he did not have a clue

The man walked into a shop
A small, homey kind of place
Ran by an old man, his name was pop
And then, he ended the chase

He settled on one
It was kind of grey
A flexi-coil, the deal was done
It was the top of the game

The farmer drove home
And hooked the Wil-rich up
The truck, complaining with groans
Until it was unhooked, back at the shop

The man traded it off
With a lump in his throat
Covered it with a cough
And went to fetch his coat

He hooked it to the truck
And pulled the brute home
Brand new, what luck
It even had a bit of chrome

The new plow sits
In the Wil-Rich’s spot
Farmer Jane threw a fit
Her temper was getting hot

The man did not tell his wife
That he got a new plow
The plow wasn’t through it’s life
Old man is in trouble now

Later that night
His wife was asleep
The farmer was right
And the couch made him weep.

Please don't hold back, any comments wether they be good or bad are greatly appreciated

Take care, Alex
