Punished?!?!?

Yep, that's what Obama said. He doesn't want his daughters to be "punished with a baby." :???:

I've got two daughters. 9 years old and 6 years old. I am going to teach them first of all about values and morals. But if they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby.

If you are 16 and having reckless sex yes a baby is a punishment. I'd have to agree with the man on that fact. Not only is a baby a punishment for the girl having it but it is also bad for the baby being born into the situation.

For the most part babies are miracles but in some circumstances they aren't. I know if my 16 year old came home knocked up I wouldn't be going what a blessed miracle I'd be wondering what the hell we were gonna do and how we were gonna survive it.

I hope to be a responsible enough parent to teach my children about safe sex practices. In todays society their are worse things that can happen from casual sex then getting knocked up. :? Punishments from sexually transmitted diseases can not only destroy lives but end them.

I think it is fair to call that circumstance a punishment....A punishment is considered a inconvenience, and I think we will all agrre that raising a baby at the age of sixteen, would be at the very least, considered an inconvenience for the 16yo mother...you can argue the word but I think CA made the point clear....unprotected sex at sixteen can certainly lead to many life inconveniences,or worse things....

I wonder what his two babies will think about daddy's comment.. :???:

parents even politicians should be careful as little ears often don't hear or understand the adult part of the sentence..

Obviously, a 16 year-old might consider it "punishment" to be pregnant. But the parents of that 16 year-old have a duty to try to change that outlook, don't they?

Responsible parents of those 16 year-olds would do well to try to change that outlook - NOT rationalize it. Responsible leaders should also be trying to change that outlook - NOT rationalize it.

A child born to a 16 year-old that looks upon her baby as "punishment" is probably in for a rough life.

Good grief, has no one considered giving the baby of a 16 year old girl up for adoption? There are plenty of couples out there who would love to have a baby and can't. It's a tough decision, but I think would be the right thing to do.

:agree: It just so happens I know a beautiful young couple that can not concieve, they're now going through the adoption process...Lucky baby :) !!!
I just DO NOT accept the other scenario to an unwanted baby, theres too many beautiful couples out there that want one.
Like I said, RR agreed, babies are never a punishment,if ones old enough to produce the baby they're old enough to do the right thing....following through with a pregnancy and doing the mature thing at the end,is not punishment its maturing.
Boy you guys are going to love this....I don't agree with Obama on his statement at all :!:

I agree totally. Babies are never a punishment and one must do the right thing.
