Question for my Canadian friends

Faster horses

Well-known member
I am planning a trip to Toronto to visit some friends. I would
like to take some of our freezer beef with me, like a cooler full.
We can't seem to find out if NW Airlines allows this. Do any of
you know? I've been waiting for an answer for several days now.
Thought someone here might know if it is allowed or not.

Thanks!!

FH it might not be so much airline regulatios as a Canada Customs rule.
First do you have your Passport? That is needed to fly by Jan 23 '07.
A person could bring in 11 pounds per person but I think that could be lifted to any amount. Best check with Canadian Border Services at
1 800 461-9999 or at www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need more help.

Have applied for my passport already, and thanks for the question.
I'm not going until Feb. 22.
I will check out the website you provided and let you know
if I need anything else.

I knew I'd have a good chance of finding out right here.
Thanks a BUNCH, BMR.

If you do get stuck in Toronto, or if you get bored while you're there, we're about 2 hours east, I could use some help splitting wood.

Too bad you're missing out on the farm show

Good luck with your passports! When we applied for ours 2yrs ago...it took 3 months to get them,,and then they had our son born in NorthPlatte North Carolina instead of NEbraska! So had to send it back and that took about 5 weeks to get it. Good thing I applied way early...Hopefully you'll have goodluck...just be sure and check them throughly when ya get it. :?

The line-ups for passports have been crazy,up to eight hour wait in line....greg and I decieded we'd wait until the rush is over.

Make sure you go to a hockey game and the CN Tower-other than that not much else goin' on in Hogtown lol. They told Megan eight week wait for her passport.

I'm not sure-Faster Horses would have a hoot at the interactive displays lol-she could see how hard a slapshot she has. Actually Younge St. after dark has more wildlife than Yellowstone Park.

Coming to Toronto? Well, Faster horses, that puts you about 2 hours east of us. Does your schedule allow for a visit out our way? We would be glad to have you come.

I wouldn't even make you split any wood. I would let you run the chain saw! Or help my wife pile wood!

If you would go see a hockey game, you need to be ready to lay out mega bucks to a scalper for tickets. Almost impossible to get tix to see the Leafs, even thought they don't seem to know how to play hockey this year.

While the wildest wildlife might be on Yonge Street, you might get your fill of wildlife just driving up Hwy. 401.

I'm serious about the visit. PM me if it would work. Would love to meet some Ranchers.net folks.

DaleK, where are you located? I am 1 hr. east of Kitchener/Waterloo.

FH, I don't think freezer beef will be allowed as it has to be sealed and labeled as product of the US.

Let us know what you find out from Canada Customs. Enjoy your stay in the "big smoke".

Yes, it is Mrs. Greg. And it is definitely one of the more memorable places to go in the center of the universe.

Thanks everyone. I'll see what I can do Maple Leaf Angus.
That would be fun to do, for sure. I'm not sure what all my
friend has planned.

I hope the passport comes through in time. I have one from
2001, but guess what???????? I don't know where it is......
I looked in every plausible place...so it's in an inplausible place...
so I'm done looking.

I had a couple of options with the passport. Just apply regularly
as the lady at the courthouse said we could
track it, but I paid the extra money to expidite it. I'm always
Murphy's Law at work...so didn't want to take any chances.

Sooooooo Toronto isn't too good a city? I've never been there.
I'm sure I am going to be ga-ga. Isn't it called the "Culture City"?
I could probably use a little more culture, but I'm not sure what
it is. :p

MLA, near Belleville. FH I think compared to most larger US cities Toronto probably comes off pretty well, just doesn't hold up to small-town Canada. I agree with the Hockey Hall of Fame, if you have extra time there's the Royal Ontario Museum and the Ontario Science Centre. There's an agricultural museum in Milton which isn't far but I don't know what hours they might have in the winter. Watching the Leafs is pretty steep if you can get tickets but the junior games (St. Mikes Majors, Toronto Marlies, Ice Dogs or Battalion) are pretty cheap and just as much fun.
