Old Timer tell me please tell me what you think about this? Would you pretty pleaseeeee?

Has anyone seen the signs around the country saying your stimulus dollars at work?

Its said the goverment is spending mega millions on getting these signs out. Most of these projects the funds were appropriated over 1 1/2 years ago.

This administration sure has a problem with honesty and integrity.

Can we please have a reply from O.T.

I've commented about the sigas many times Pig Farmer- they've been in use on Highway Projects up here for as long as I can remember- but here this time I'll let you get the answer from the Bozeman Editorial:

Rehberg misses mark on stimulus sign debate
The Bozeman Daily Chronicle
Editorial

Published 10/1/2009

Montana Congressman Denny Rehberg's disapproval of expensive highway signs identifying projects paid for with economic stimulus money is understandable. After all, the signs could be viewed as just so much chest-beating on the part of partisan government officials.

But it looks like Rehberg may have taken aim at the wrong target.

The distinctive-looking, multicolored signs are posted along highways where federal economic stimulus money is being used to complete highway work. The text is simple: "Recovery Reinvestment," an abbreviation of the full name of the bill that authorized a more than $700-billiondollar economic stimulus package passed by Congress earlier this year.

Rehberg's took his ire over the signs so far as to complain in writing to no less than Vice President Joe Biden and Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood. But a spokesman for the Federal Highway Administration said that, while the agency approved the design of the sign, states make the decision on where or even if to use them and that the states are not required to use the signs at all.

Jim Lynch, the director of the Montana Department of Transportation and apparently the person Rehberg should have been scolding, said the Recovery Reinvestment signs are no different than the orange signs that routinely mark taxpayer-funded highway projects and are just a form of transparency that allows citizens to see where their tax dollars are going.

A Rehberg spokesman countered that Recovery Reinvestment signs are a one-shot deal, while the orange signs can be recycled with new dollar figures on them. And Rehberg argued on the floor of the House last week that, "[t]hese signs provide no jobs or long-term investment in our economy." Tell that to company that makes the Reinvestment Recovery signs - and its employees.

There's plenty of room for debate over the wisdom of some of Congress' and the administration's efforts to get the economy back on its feet by spending big federal bucks. But the sign brouhaha seems like little more than a distraction from the issues that Congress should be debating.

And thats what the Job/Stimulus Bill was designed for- already on the books, "shovel ready projects" that with the Bush Bust the states and local enitities were probably going to have to postpone or cancel without the influx of Federal monies....

OT the word was the funds were already appropriated! Not that the projects lacked or was waiting on funding.

Lets stay on track and please read and comment on just how underhanded the bait and switch by this administration is.

Now one more question for you OT and please answer both!

Since the administration is attributing projects that were already funded to the stimulus bill, and the administration refuses to let anyone, anyone see or answer for the stimulus funds who like who got them and such.

Is it possible as well as probable we are going to be looking for missing funds? I mean you constantly accused the republican administration of causing funds to disapear.

Are they not being crooked in using allready allocated funds and attaching that the projects are being funded by the stimulus project?

From what I understand-- all or most the state matching funds were non-existent-- and that some states would be declaring bankruptcy ( or may still be) with the appropriations put forward if they continued- especially after the huge gas highways funds tax drop after the drop in local/state/national transportation taxes after GW gave his Oil buddies a free shot to rape and pillage with runaway inflated prices - and -AFTER GW'S BEING ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL BUST THE COUNTRIES/WORLDS ECONOMY...

So the Stimulus/Jobs Bill was designed to keep many of these previously appropriated/planned jobs going forward-- and to keep some people working- while creating new jobs....

The comedy asked by many in the Ag industry of Montana-- is why after 20 years of Montana's Ag groups trade promotion with with countries like Cuba- some of our Representatives voted against dropping the embargo....The same "some' that had promoted it for years- until "he" got $11,000+ in lobbyiest money from an anti embargo Lobbyiest out of Florida-- and then stuck in the biggest "PORKULUS" part of the Stimulus/Jobs bil for a Montana World Trade Center :???: :???: :???: l ....

No difference than Sen Stevens "Bridge to Nowhere" and Sister Sarah's ( the rightwingnuts "messiah") "Road to Nowhere" that the Alaskans are getting a big laugh out of- sticking their "pork" in when the country could use it elsewhere...... :(

President Obama to Sign Pork-Laden Omnibus Spending Bill
March 02, 2009 8:29 AM

MoreObama administration officials Sunday announced that despite expressed "concerns" with the billions in earmarks contained in the $410 billion omnibus spending bill -- and campaign pledges to "slash earmarks by more than half" -- the President would sign the bill.

Taxpayers for Common Sense says the bill contains 8,570 earmarks at a cost of $7.7 billion. An estimated 60% of the earmarks are from Democrats, while Republicans requested the remaining 40%.

In his list of the Top Ten Porkiest projects that he tweeted on his Twitter page last week, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz. -- who is urging President Obama to veto the bill -- cited both the $300,000 earmark for a Montana World Trade Center from GOP Rep. Dennis Rehberg of Montana.

Piggy-- explain to me the need for the Montana World Trade Center???

Oldtimer you are supposed to be supposed to be a JUDGE. WHY IN THE HECK CAN YOU NOT GROW SOME BALLS AND FLAT OUT CONDEMM THE LEFT WITHOUT TRYING TO TRASH ANYONE THAT IS NO LONGER IN CONTROL? Wake up we are living in the now. What this loon is doing will be near impossible to reverse.

Many laws that effect only Americans that he might implement can be undone by an alert congress and senate in 2011. The abandonment of allies and choosing to be non commital in the wars we are fighting cannot be undone. Wake up swallow your stupid pride and think of your grandchildren as well as everyone else's.

I dont give a crap what you own or posess at the end of the day he is going to shuck your corn just like every other Americans corn. His agenda is not about you or me its a socialist one world goverment agenda with no middle class. There will be haves and have nots no in between. I highly doubt that you are wealthy enough to survive what is coming down the road and be one of the have's.

If you are a Judge do you use the same bias in the court room? I am serious.

When I must address my children or grandchildren about a problem they might have had. I do not deal with all of the past they have done. I live in the here and now. Is it your pride or is it just democratic jackasss ways that stops you from addressing the question without trashing someone else.

George Bush had many issues. But on his worst day he could and did outdo what stupid I invented the internet gore or chicken swift kerry would have done.
