Wow!!!!! Great idea.... I don't have one, but I would look in the Taste of Home catelog... Maybe write in there and see what the cooks say there.

I"d never thought of such.....but googled it, and came up with a whole bunch of programs to do what your wife wants. I bet your local hastings book store, or Office Max would have the programs.
That's a neat idea tho for a gift. Tho I keep mine in 40 dozen recipe books and the lil recipe card box. LOL

Now That's an EXCELLENT idea

Part of the gift include YOU transferring all those recipes onto the program

Google Programs for recipes. You'll be amazed at what comes up.

computers seem to have a mind of their own...I guess she'd keep the cards in case the computer bombs just before the big party  LOL which is probably what would happen here with our track record.
Sounds like an easier was to keep things organized though. Great idea.

My wife keeps her recipes burned onto a disc, so I asked her about this (big mistake). She doesn't have a special program to do it with, though. She has folders for meats, vegetables, desserts, etc., with different categories within each folder. Every time she finds another one that she wants to save, she either has to type it into a document, or copy and paste it into a document. She saves these into files on the computer. After that, she saves them to the CD.

I asked her about your idea, and she said that if you go through with this plan, the next gift that your wife will want is a computer in the kitchen. That's because she has to come into the computer room and turn on the computer, find what she wants and then print it out to take back into the kitchen.

Apparently, that's a lot of trouble because she's usually already got something cooking. So she mentioned that a computer in the kitchen would sure be nice to have. She'd just never had the opportunity to tell me---until now. I never would have gotten into this mess if I hadn't been trying to help you out, memanpa. :x

she said the main reason she wanted them on a disc is because she has soooo many cookbooks (a 4'x8' bool case full) she could never remember which book this or that recipie was in so a lot of time was spent trying to find it, especially if it was a good one but not used a lot.
she felt a good program would allow her (me) to set up a data base by ingrediants and or main meal etc and by remembeting some ingrediants and for what meal it was, it would be better

she has every issiue of taste of home issiued i think probabally every betty crocker cook book and tons of smaller ones bigger ones in between ones that she might let me put in the shed.
of course i relaize this is a two sided sword, she cleans out space on her book case she gets to get more cook books, but if it makes her happy so be it

I got Jugbutt to check around and she found these for you, memanpa. She said that it looks like they do basically what she does, but with some added extras. They might be what you're looking for.
