Ok I have a question that only you can answer..

Why did McCain (sp?) not choose Rudi G. as his running mate?

Was that an impossibility ? We (a few friends) were having a discussion the other day and this came up ,and to be honest I do not know enough about the American electoral process to answer. But a lot of people think that would have been the ideal choice..

Thanks..

3 times married-nasty, nasty, affair and divorce (fits with McCain there tho  )pro guncontrol- pro gays....

The Repub base no longer stands on solid political, foreign affairs, economical issues and fundamental Republican issues of the past- tying their importance now to the radical right wing religious right on extreme conservative social issues as most importance- who's followers wouldn't support Guiliani....

From the campaign leaks it sould like McCain actually wanted Lieberman- but his campaign handlers had a fit...

Hmn thanks OT but I thought more would answer this but thanks again.

Rudi did a lot to clean up NY like with all the porn shops ,whores etc,,I guess that doesn't count..

And really who in America cares if the pres is a cheating lying SOB ,,,wasn't /isn't JFK still loved and missed to this day???????..

If anyone else has a real answer please let us know..

Palin is a TWIT btw ,,he could have made a much better choice with all the options he had our there... :(

Early on, the talk was that Rudi would be a front runner. Not sure what happened but he didn't get the support and dropped out fairly fast.
I am sure the pick of Palin was to win over the Hillary supporters. Hillary's supporters were upset that she didn't get the nomination and McCain thought he could capitalize on that. When the media was trying to guess who his pick up be, there was not alot of excitement about anybody in particular. He changed that.

More didn't answer because OT is right about why Rudy wasn't on the ticket. His marriages, his "liberal" stance on gun control, gay rights, etc. The last nail in the coffin, so to speak, was the revelation that he had used New York City cops to escort his then girlfriend (now wife #3 or 4) around the city at taxpayer expense. Really, all Rudy had going for him was his leadership during 9-11. And there were many NYC cops and firemen who thought he did a lousy job then and were willing to say so on TV and in ads.

Women and minorities aren't especially welcome in the Republican Party, so McCain didn't have a lot of women to choose from. But, yes, there were better choices than Palin. She was less than two years into her first term as governor and already under an ethics investigation! His selection shows the mindset of a male dominated party: women are interchangeable. Hillary voters are unhappy? We'll bring out a woman and they'll switch their vote for McCain. She's been a disaster for him.

Sarah Palin is the reason I finally got excited about this election.

Untill she entered I was going to vote Ron Paul.as a protest knowing he couldn't win.

Then I read Oldtimers post about electoral votes and saw that if it was a tie Pelosie could get in or at the least it would be decided by the nitwits that represent us in DC.

Untill Palin got on the ticket it was none of the above for my choice.
I am proud to see Sarah Palin on the ticket.
I'm definatly not voting for her because I'm a Hillary supporter.
I'm voting for her because she's the most conservative choice we have after Ron Paul.
I believe McCain picked her for her conservative values, to appeal to voters like me who felt the Republican party was leaving them with no representation.
I guess the only real thing I have against McCain is his record on guns, and he will spend way too much money and expand government even further. Just not as bad as barry o.

Untill Palin entered the picture I felt that I was just choosing the lesser of two evils. I can feel good about voting for Palin.
McCain finally stepped up to the plate the last couple weeks, I'm even starting to like him. maybe it is just in contrast to how bad bho really is.
IMO Palin is the best thing McCain has done this campain!!!!!
