From Wikipedia:

As of January 1, 2008, the annual salary of each Representative is $169,300. The Speaker of the House and the Majority and Minority Leaders earn more. The Speaker earned $212,100 during the 109th Congress (January 4, 2005-January 3, 2007) while the party leaders earned $183,500 (the same as Senate leaders). A cost-of-living-adjustment (COLA) increase takes effect annually unless Congress votes to not accept it. Congress sets members' salaries; however, the Twenty-seventh Amendment to the United States Constitution prohibits a change in wages from taking effect during the same Congress in which it was enacted. Representatives are eligible for lifetime benefits after serving for five years, including a pension, health benefits, and social security benefits.

Since the "rich" are now at $150,000 they will I am sure exclude themselves from the tax on the rich ...............

They should voluntarily give next years salary back so they could actually find out what the economy is like. All of them need to be knocked down a peg. Of course I know that will never happen.

I am starting to think politicians are the leading cause of Global Warming. (nothing but hot air and bs)

You should have seen the look on the Big 3 automakers execs faces when in the hearings the other day, one of the Congressmen asked if they would be willing to limit their salaries (including perks and stock options) to $1 Million a year value if they get their bailouts/loans

You could have run a Mack truck thru their dropped jaws- but none would agree to it....

Yep....they should work for free untilt he companies can become profitable or resign. Only thing that was a bigger farce was the crooks asking the questions of them.....(U.S. Senators). Wonder what there real "Take" is annually??

When asked if they would sell their jets ' in place' and return home commercial , they should have said YES loudly and handed the Congressional panel they keys!.

Nowadays, you can get a bigger better jet than what they've got now....so sell'em and hunt for a bargain.

I wonder how many graduates from the most elite business colleges you could hire for their salaries, let's take even those with 3 yrs min. experience and less already in the work force. Maybe they need a little pressure a shock back to reality.

I wonder how many graduates of the best technical schools you could hire for the salaries and perks that the union autoworkers get? Maybe they need a little pressure? A shock back to reality?

Maybe Pelosi would let them go on her taxpayer paid private jet..

Pelosi for "an arrogance of extravagance that demands a jumbo jet that costs $22,000 an hour to operate to taxi her and her buddies back and forth to California."

so she is setting US back at least $200,000 grand a weekend..

Quote of the week:
“Typical Americans can see the price of gas going up. But most of them have no idea at the cost of jet fuel,” whined Rep. Barney Frank, D-MA. “Our personal bills have gone up, and we need to offset these

The idea behind good pay is to get good people ...If you can make better money in the private sector.why would you enter the public sector?....To sit and compare salaries is moot.Look at what shooting a basketball gets you paid......or talking rymes to crappy music...North America is full of over paid fools...We pay hundreds of dollars just to sit and watch a sports game..We pay thousands of dollars to own new cars....I am sure every rancher watches the price of cattle and holds out for the highest possible profit.....Some here defended the 150,000 dollar cloth allowence for Palin.....Why cant she buy her own like the rest...reason is,no one expects her to have to spend her money, its a perk....Money is way out of wack now....some of the hardest working people get the lowest pay...Sure you can tell people this is the land of oppertunity but recently its been the land of greed......These new senetors are no different then the last group, its all about self and until the idea of taking all you can is snuffed out,North America will be a greed filled society going down fast......
