This brings up a question which has been around since the beginning.................................what the heck is the FDIC doing?

These type of loans should have thrown up a red flag from day one.

This is a question to anyone that currently has kids in high school: Does the school system teach kids ANYTHING about finance? Balancing checkbooks, understanding interest rates, credit cards, etc...?

There is a class called "Home and Family Living" or something similar that is an elective in some schools. It was/is targeted for both genders. They go into household living planning with calculating how much you can spend on housing and the expenses of running a house. The local school board wanted to discontinue the class at one point but I advocated keeping it.

We have a pattern of govt. regulatory agencies not doing their jobs and then bailing out industries that get into trouble with taxpayer money.

We keep voting the same people in office so we keep getting the same thing over and over again. Many in Congress have seen this movie before. It usually comes some time after a relaxation of regulations and periods as Greenspan put it, irrational exuberance.

Yes, and NO...

They teach them how to do the mathematical work,.. but not the common sense part of handleing money...

locally kids get jobs at about $6 an hour.. so they go from haveing 20 bucks a week to about $200 in the summer.. with no bills at home they quickly learn how to spend the money... unless some one teaches them how to save..

I made a deal with my son.. if he saved 75% of his check, I would never bitch about what he spent the other 25% on..

then over the winter he could draw on the 25% saved, and keep the rest for big purchases..

the Kicker was that over the winter I would still fork over the $20... and still help with those bigger costs such as a coat,.. School pictures, trips ect...

if he didn't want my advice he didn't get my money..

He also had to save over half of the purchase price of his car..
plus show how he could afford his insurance gas ect..

schools can't teach them common sense...(that is reaserved for parents).. so if the parents don't have common sense,.. the children often fail as well... that is why I don't believe in evolution.. cause stupidity seems to be getting out of hand...

For all of you who want NO GOVERNMENT involvement in the economy or markets of the US.....

Taking for granted that the ' stimulus' passes...........

What will you do with your so called ' rebate' check?

If you are so ' against' gov't intervention, then you should refuse the $$$ as it would go against your better judgement.

Me, I will do with it like I did the $600 or so ' tax cut' ck.

I gave that to the local womens shelter and I shall do the same if any of this comes my way.

I am saving mine to put into my new kitchen cabinets. I have been saving for over a year for them..... :D

What rebate check?

I don't think I'll get one..

I don't think I recieved one last time either..

I think the plan to invest in the infastructure, and energy independance is a better idea..

if they could just cut $150 million instead of spending $150 million (was it Billion?)... I would go out and spend a few thousand to stimulate the the economy of my own money... (money I saved not buying every one Chinese crap at Christmas)...

There needs to be some education on credit cards, interest, mortgages, etc. and I don't mean just doing the math. I grew up in a house where money was never discussed and we never had any of it in school. I'm just lucky I never did get myself into the trouble some kids get into.

Maybe your parents taught by good example..

even comments such as.. if we don't go to Mcdonalds today, we can save to go to Disney land this summer.. teaches a young mind... even with out hearing that...children often learn more by what we do then what we say...
