When a company has a huge recall such as has happened with chicken, peanutbutter, and pet food, how do they stand the loss? Does it hurt the producers of the raw material or does the company eat the loss?

Latest pet food deaths are at 1438 dogs and cats ! It May make the pet food industry go under ground . Being that Proctor and Gamble had big stakes in Menu pet products ,we will see who has the deepest pockets. Surely won't be the Chi Coms
