Question ??????????

How come pretty much every thread on PB has to be jacked and turned into personal attacks ? And not just PB a lot of boards on here turn into it. Is it that cattle people have poor etiquette ???

Maybe there should be a live chat room for everyone just to get their stuff out and keep it civil.

Just wondering as I read through some stuff on here, it never stays on topic. BTW I am procrastinating right now and wasting valuable time on here today.

I bet this one will get jacked as well and turn into personal attacks too.

Since you asked a civil question that deserves a civil answer I will do my best. From my experiences Threads usually, not all the time but usually deteriorate when a issues is presented, a question asked of either side and they know to truthfully debate the facts will result in making their support of the opposing view point look as if it is ill warranted.

If we would stick to the message within the thread and honestly discuss them and not resort to trying to destroy the messenger we would all be better for it but that doesn't seem to be possible. :???:

Hillsdown, not every thread gets "jacked", I think it is healthy for a discussion to naturally evolve into another subject, it illustrates the importance of looking at the "big picture" and the connections between "subjects"

But, I do agree the personal attacks, based on who posts a thread, past history of what you thought of previous threads etc is a little much.

the whole purpose of a "discussion group", is to discuss, collect and formulate your thoughts and opinions.

If you do not agree with opinions expressed, fine, then refute, ignore, or personally insult and attack.

the choice is the individual's.

assuming that a poster is posting specific articles/information for specific reasons is dangerous, IMHO.

if in doubt, ask the question. It solves a lot of future problems.

Not all posters agree with what they post, but are trying to generate thought and discussion.

certain individuals need to keep that in mind.

like all good conversations.. they have to be led in a direction.. sometimes those talking get distracted by points not on topic.. it is part of the life.. I try not to worry to much about where it was but more where it is going..

as for the insults... ect.. distractions.. ignore the insults or ignore those who seem to always be doing the insults and usually you can see good points and who is worth responding to and who is not..
