Quilt

This started out a surprise for Lil Lilly for Christmas......*note I said started out LOL She's seen it now. I can't keep nothin a secret from that kid. I've been workin on it this last week, when she's away at school and at night after she goes to bed. But I don't think it's gonna match her room colors. I tried. Her room is tans and browns, walls painted to look similar to leather, and barbwire and horseshoe border. I just for some reason can't make myself like the colors of this quilt. I used old britches, some like the docker style pants, some jeans. The main reason she knows about it now is because I showed it to a friend, who wants this one. And I think I may do the next one out of all blue jeans, just picking and choosing the darker and lighter parts to do the horse. I've got it laid out now in the floor, fixin to cut the backing out, and put it all together with the batting, then bind it.

Good looking miss lilly. My girls all quilt . We always have a quilt up on the frame and usually someone working on it. Even the little ones know how to make neat little stitches.

That is a handsome quilt. You've got a lot more patience than I'll ever have.
Don't fret about the colors. My daughter tells me not to worry about
"getting all the colors matchy matchy". Makes things look too planned and organized. I like that philosophy!
Katrina's idea to date it is a great one. Years from now informed people will want to know!

I'll probably put one of those "info tags" on the backside of it when it's finished. I won't be quiltin this one, I'll be tackin it. I'd never get finished with one if I quilted it by hand. I don't have that much patience LOL I get this far into a project and wanna hurry up n git it finished so I can move onto the next one.

I think the main reason I don't like the colors on this one is the grayish blue background behind the horse. I was all excited about startin it, and had that piece of fabric already. I haven't bought anything for this quilt, was all stuff I already had. I did make a trip into town today to buy the binding, and they only had two packages of the quilt binding, not enuff, and if you can't get it all at once sometimes the color is different from one lot to the next. So guess who gets to get it for me tomorrow when he goes into work? Bigger town and hopefully will have 4 packages instead of just 2.
Thanks ya'll, hopefully I'll like this thing better after it's finished and makes a couple trips thru the washin machine. It's got denim that will be fringed around the outside...like Lil Lilly's jeans....so I may change my mind LOL

LOL yeap pounds....the thing is heavy enuff for ya'lls winters up there. I do like it better now that it's washed and fringed....but I"m still gonna sell it if I can. Then turn around and make another one. This one turned out the exact size of a full bed....just to the edges...I like em to hang over a lil bit 10 inches or so.
