Baker Livestock Commission Shows Support with Fund-Raiser
(Baker, Mont.) – A recent fund-raiser at Baker Livestock Commission raised almost $5,000 for R-CALF USA and the Montana Cattlemen's Association (MCA), an R-CALF USA affiliate organization. Baker Livestock donated a company vest for the rollover auction.
"We were very proud to see the local ranchers and local businessmen who are realizing R-CALF is a member-driven organization that is really supporting the needs of our cattle industry," said Baker Livestock Owner Barry Ellis. "We wanted to give people the chance to support the people working for the cause."
"R-CALF has been working on the border restrictions and import standards, so it is important to support them with donations," said Ralph Rising of Wibaux. "R-CALF has been trying to protect our cattle herds from imported diseases."
"I think R-CALF is our only hope," said Harry Tronstad of Baker. "It has been taking on the issues that matter to producers.
"The turnout at the sale was better than it has been in the past," continued Tronstad. "When they have a special feeder calf or stock cow sale they have a bigger crowd for donations."
