Thanks everybody for looking at my pictures and commenting!

Great pic's . So how many Coturnix eggs does it take to make an omelet .

a bunch... ...but boy are they tastey! I just got into the Coturnix. I came home with 6 one day from an animal auction, not knowing a thing about them.....now I have close to 100... . Most all of the ones I have are real young. What few were laying stopped laying when I moved them to a new spot and haven't started laying again yet. Most of the eggs I was getting went into my incubator....but I can easily egg 15 to 20 in a sitting....with some turkey eggs on the side with them....

I envy your determination and time to do what you want with your charges. That is what life is about.

It looks like it might take a few to make a meal. I'm about to have my first quail meal tomorrow. I'm going to make a rice and soup mixture deal with some I processed a couple days ago. I got a set of scales and am going to be breeding my heaviest to my heaviest. Some I have are kinda meaty. The Texas A&M variety I have been hatching out are suppose to be pretty meaty. They grow crazy fast....6 to 8 weeks from hatching to laying, breeding, butchering.

they can be enjoyed by others. Regardless, I'm glad you choose to share them with us.

Thank you! I don't have a dime to my name from Jan to Nov...lol...but it is well worth it to me to be able to be there for my boys and animals 24 hours a day! I feel lucky! My oldest and I went to his first 4-H meeting the other day....I'm excited about that! I can't wait to get fair animals ready to show and learn all about that!

That is EXACTLY what is going down.... Since I'll only be 7 this fair year, I have to show in the exibition/for fun classes... I got my boar and sow from show pig breeders so could not only raise my own pork, but maybe be able to show their babies also. I'll be showing a pig this year one way or another... I was kinda bummed that not a single word was mentioned about animals at that first meeting....

Great set of pics! You sure got your home made incubator figured out, congrats. If there is a farmers market anywhere close by, you could probably sell a lot of chicks, poults, etc. You can have them hatched and for sale before the hatcheries who have to wait for "shipping weather". Catch the tide of spring fever, ya know?

I do have my home made incubator figured out. I am thinking about finding a local farmers market and start selling stuff at it. I'll have to check, but I think to sell baby poultry I'll have to be NPIP certified. Doing all this is a blast and I love it! It would be neat to expand some beyond just for myself.

I have looked for awhile on finding Black Welsh Mountain sheep...finally found her down by Lone Jack....just got her. She is half BWMS. They had full bloods, but none for sale at the time. I'll be adding full bloods asI can. I want to make my own clothing out of their wool. I think that would be an awesome feeling to be chroin' in the freezing cold wearing stuff I made! I won't mention I am learning to knit....lol. Ok, I am.... My first stockin' hat could of been worn by 3 or 4 people at the same time.... ...but I am getting casting on and the knit and pearl stitch down pat.... My goals of being a big ranching guy and an Amish women are in full swing....

A friend of mine gets his wool spun and made into socks and blankets. The blanket he gave me is just the right size to cover me in my recliner.

Put Turk the Jack Russell under neath and it feels like a electric blanket. :lol: :lol:

Reminds me of going deer hunting with a friend one time. He stayed warm enough to sleep the night before because a huge cat feel asleep on his chest and I didn't sleep at all that night....
