Serious rain....woooo hooooo!!!! Started yesterday morning and rained all day....5 pm yesterday the rain guage showed 2 1/2 inches and got up this mornin and it's still comin down, rained all night. This is the kinda rain that does some good....too bad it didn't do this durin the summer when it was needed so desperately bad, but we'll still take it. Hopefully help that winter grass grow :D

Radio just said we are under a tornado warning as well...... :?

Good for you jersey lilly! Here's hoping for more rain for all of us that need it. I would go for some rain, but I hope the white stuff stays away for a while. We have a few weeks of jobs I would like to finish first.

2 1/2 inches so far as well Lilly. Some are saying we'll get 4" before it's over. It's going to be back to 70degrees tomorrow. Good weather.

Low this mornin was 62 degrees......high today only up to 75, tomorrow is supposed to clear out and be 89 (and muggyyyyyyyyyyyy I'm sure LOL) It's rainin harder this mornin than it did all day yesterday, if it keeps this up I wouldn't doubt that we get 4 or even 6 inches before it's all said n done.....

I would say that's Haymakers area. I"m not sure if they got rain or not. I spent most of yesterday afternoon cleanin house and didn't look at the weather, other than what was outside my windows. I sure hope they did, they could use the moisture to get their winter grass growin.

Haymaker...where ya at...did ya git rain?

I'm happy to hear you all are getting rain. It is supposed to start
raining here, and turn to snow, with an inch accumulation. That's all
we need right now...don't want any more than that.

Since it is raining there, what will that do for the wheat pastures
and the demand for the lighter calves?

Some folks around here haven't sold their calves yet, and they
are pretty nervous.

Lilly, the land that is planted to winter wheat is usually grazed during
the winter in Texas and Oklahoma and I think, Kansas. There hasn't
been as much demand for the small calves that are usually grazed
on wheat pasture. I was hoping the moisture in that area might help
the prices on smaller calves.

They may grow wheat up in other parts of Texas, (don't know where tho) I've never seen any wheat pastures. Probably Northern parts and the panhandle. not in our area tho.

Yeap did some readin and the northern plains up around amarillo is where they grow the most wheat. Round here folks plant rye grass and some oats for winter grazin.

It tried to rain off and on all day yesterday but just settled the dust. Heard it during the night a time or two and it's raining pretty good now. Haven't been by the rain gauge but still no puddles. If we got 4 - 6 inches out of one storm the hills wouldn't be so steep  LOL

If the weather boys prediction of the strengthening El Nino are right- you folks down south could be in for a wet winter...Historically it sends the storm track across the southern US, while we get a fairly dry open and warm winter up here.....

Had a little rain last night- and they are giving a 70% chance for today...Just kind of misty out there now... Temp is in the 40's today but supposed to drop into the teens with highs in the 30's for the week...

Lilly if it ever looked like that up here in these hills , you'd be a thousand feet under water. That is some serious water! Ours all runs off. Not a flat spot in the county.

Good god... That is some rain.. we don't see floodin like that usually unless there is an ice dam or something in the spring or a muskrat breaks a hole in the side of a ditch.... Yikes.... Closest to that much water in a field was one May that we had 3 3" rains in a week... Had carp flopping in the alfalfa fields after they swam up the drain tiles.

Lilly, you're going to need a pretty good floating lilly pad if that keeps up. Best of luck in negotiating all of that extra water. Be careful.
