I think I finally got my last poem! Let me know what you think!
Dear God, earlier today I saw the storm clouds comin
Like a lonely car drivin down Highway Twelve
I’ve been hopin for a good long summer’s rain
All my thoughts directed toward you aren’t in vain.
Now the thunder has started to roll in
The lightning has begun to flash against the dark night
Look outside, evidence of the wind, the trees are bent over flat
Please don’t cause a lot of damage with that.
Now I’m wishin, prayin, rememberin
About that time we had seven fires all at once
Please make the ground-touching lightning go away
We don’t need any Montana wildfires today.
Oh, I can smell it now, the rain we so dearly long for
Are you sending us the rain we need?
We need it so badly, this beautiful land is way too dry
Please, don’t let this good summer’s rain pass us by.
