Rain

We may break the record this month, not frequent, but very large storms. Expecting 3-6" (rain) on this one.

Picked up almost 1/4 of an inch during the night...Sprinkles all day so far- looks like it could start in raining any minute...
That rain really made things smell like spring- noticed the grass in the improved pastures/hay meadows had started to green up overnight...

We had our first real good dust storm of the year last night and it blew all the clouds to NR's place. +17C on the 29th of March is not normal. I thought Hanna was downright wet when I headed to Calgary cross country last week.
I will learn to be a good grass manager yet if this weather keeps up. :)

We got some rain late afternoon today. I don't think it amounted to
much, but it got the top of the ground wet! There is plenty underneath
that's for sure.

I talked to a friend in W. Montana today...they got 6" of snow
last night. I told them to "please keep it." :p

I wonder if they were anything like the dust storms I remember from Iraq.

Just looked at one of the local stations, we've broken the record for Portland as of 5am. 10.88 inches of rain for the month of March.

I can tell you right now, it's times like this I wish I had a big concrete area, bale grazing isn't so fun. I can find places to put the bales, but there are certain areas I have to drive through that I just rut up.

Bus picked up our son at 7:35am. No frost, just wind. At 7:40 I couldn't see to the end of the driveway for snow and thought "good moisture, darn, new basement". 10 minutes later the snow is gone, with less than 1/2 of 1/10 of an inch of moisture and the sun is out. Only the wind has stayed consistent...

It's been snowing all day here. 4 inches so far with more coming. I'll be glad to see March gone. This is the reason most guys out here calve in February. This hot/cold stuff is tougher on calves than cold/cold. It was 68 on Monday and today it's 35 and getting colder. Spring? :?

Just can't resist a little nonsense: Isn't it somehow strange that if one leaves the 'r' out of 'friend', you have fiend......and isn't that the correct term for a 'friend' who won't keep their snow at home in the mountains where it belongs????

Best wishes for a dry weekend for those who need it, and a wet one for those who want or need it!
