Ranch Journal. Sort of.

Wednesday I took my uncle out for a ride. I rode my good black, broke pony and he rode his colt. This was about her tenth ride and her very first in big country. Rode a section's worth of pasture. Exposed the colt to wire, a windmill, cows, and a wind-break. She sure was wore out when we got back to the trailer! I also caught up and saddled the colts and the gray mare.

Thursday I shoveled chicken hockey and had a ball doing it. Nice and windy so that the dust could get into my nose, eyes, ears, mouth, ect. I stacked a trailer full of wood for the neighbors. Gonna go down by their home place Sunday and cut down a looming tree brach. They're one of the few left in the community that still burns wood regularly, and we have a surplus. Caught and saddled the two green colts we have. Plenty gentle, and they're good and ready for that first ride.

Today I went to the Co-op with Grandma to pick up some chicken feed. 57 bucks for two 50 pound sacks of layer crumbles and 4 bags of corn! Gee whiz, I'm gonna get rid of some more chickens before the snow flies! Cattle all in good shape and I really like the heifers I'm weaning later on this fall. Nice profile, big, and stout. Best of all, I got one reg. Angus heifer and one reg. bull to wean. Those are my money makers. Tomorrow a good chance of snow with drizzle and wet guaranteed. Gonna stay under a roof and help change oil and breaks. Good day to do it. Can't wait to post pics of cows and horses soon. Just as quick as I can steal the camera away for a few.

Well, I was just sort of board, but thank you anyway! To add to my journal my one and only yearling has gone missing. Apparently, she's in the neighbor's pasture that doesn't have one decent cross fence on it. Plus, he's got lots of nice limousine bulls and she's a nice, small, Angus heifer. Hope dad was able to catch her fore she went astray!!!
