Despite all the water and mud...hubby is attempting to cut the Millet where he can..what didn't get flooded out is a good crop..

MY gosh what a little rain will do!!!!!! Now I feel all deprived of it once again LOL Sure wish we could get some good moisture.

How long did you hafta wait to get that shot of him in the millet field and one lone sunflower? I bet you ran out there n planted that earlier in the year just so you could take that picture. :p

LOL...I'm actually standing in the back of my pickup so I could see over the top of the field...and yes I waited till that one lonley sunflower poked it's head through...lol

We've started cutting hay millet as well, but it's not that tall! :shock: Do you know, is that White Wonder? We plant Golden German. Pretty leafy and doesn't probably get higher than 4' ever....usually shorter.

Cal, can you post a picture of your millet? This is my first year in the millet business and it looks like an abject failure compared to Jassy's most awesome crop. I was wondering what to expect on a normal dryland year. We never had any moisture for the first 30 days of its life.

Things look great in your parts Jassy. :)

Is that pearl millet? Looks pretty tall even for white wonder. But then, I guess I have never seen millet under irrigation.

It's Pearl Millet and yes it does get tall...

Is it meant for irrigation or can it be grown dryland?

Isn't the seed from Pearl Millet used for human consumption in some parts of Africa. Ground and cooked into a sort of meal?
