You dang tractor riding cow mover! Cows look fine for the time of year. Hope your drifts melt and quit getting bigger. Just think of all the H2o this summer. :D

Today was the first hay of the winter for these girls. We weaned back in middle October and had them on good grass and a little protein supplement for a while. They have been hiding out in the badlands pasture with good grass and natural shelter. :)

Ya nobody wanted to ride the way the wind was biting today. It is very slippery under that snow from the melt and rain before the blizzard.

Always looks good when the sun comes out. I love the pic with the black line on the white background. :)

Cows look good BMR. That stockpiled water will be good in the liquid form if you can keep it at home.

I think Lazy Ace might be catching some of MY water.

Doing a little cowboy "rithmetic". At a buck a pound, you are 114 lbs ahead of me in calf pounds by your shorter feeding period now.

I talked to a friend of mine 70 miles due east of our place last night. He is in an micro-climate that grows strong meadow grass and doesn't normally get a lot of snow. Said he was thinking about bringing in the young cows and old crocks in the next few days. That little area sometimes allows rustling until late Feb.

If I had a crystal ball that told me we were going to get a thaw next week these girl would still be in the hills. As it is they will probably just be supplemented with alfalfa and Bossy bloomer unless the cold hangs on . They can still rustle through the snow as it's not that deep on the ridges and hill tops. A little iced over from that mist that took down the power lines. :?

A lot of the winter range along the Fraser River is steep like your country and a lot higher hills. Sometimes the ranches there have to pull their cattle off as the trails ice up and most have lost cows that fell to their death or had to be put down because of broken legs. I would imagine Nicky's area may have the same problem.

They look good, BMR. Interesting that cows hair can shine in the
winter time. Shows good nutrition, along with their body
condition of course.

I really like pictures of cows strung out like those of yours.
Thanks.

Nice pictures BMR,
How long was your power out for?
Do you have as much snow as last year?

I am waiting for some more coyote pictures. :)

Our power was out for about 90 hours. Friday morning until Tuesday morning at about 1am. It is to be shut off again today for repairs.
I don't think we have as much snow as last year and it's not as hard a drift yet.
I have just been taking my yotes to the dump as i trim their feet for the bounty. Four were behind the house this morning but must have been wild ones as they took off as the door opened, :D
