We wound up with .7 and we're so pleased. It was time for a rain here too. South of us, toward Ekalaka, a friend got 1.8, so I guess the
main part of the storm went south of us.

I'm glad for everyone that got moisture out of this system.
Shows sunny and warm for the rest of the week.

It missed us, just .04 in the gauge.

You got more than we did, Cedarcreek. It's pretty dusty around here.

Can't shake that 45 pounds I gained sitting behind a desk at Cornell.

Lonecowboy, I thought I had you pegged, but then I see you bought a Galloway bull, so I don't think I do. Do you drive a yellow semi-truck with a bullrack?

Since March..here at this farm we've gotten OVER 34" of rain. Rained yesterday....rained this AM...will rain tonite..and for the next 7 days!!!!

We GOT TO cut hay...NOW!!!

I need to cut hay too but I say let it grow. After the last 4 years with no rain I can waite a whiole and let a few fields over grow until we get a few dry days.
I have started clipping pastures between rain showers. I can't remember the last time I was able to do that. I say let it rain.

Next week I plan to start with the bush-hog here and kind level the big pastures.

Just curious, kola--what is a 'big pasture' in your country?

First off my country is not flat nor level.

Here on this farm,it is bisected by 2 large creeks that you can not cross with a tractor. Plus, numerous feeder creeks and boggy spots or ' seeps'

All the pastures are terraced, kinda like rice paddies!!  Esp. right now!!

I have found out what we call 'creeks' here, you guys call 'rivers' there!!!  Once I was helping a friend fix a water gap. I said something about " this creek sure is cold"...well 'this creek' turned out to be the Judith River, the headwaters of course but the MT folks were calling it a river. I laffed, they got mad, and said here that " river" was equal to a creek, or ' crik' in Montana-ese!!

My big pastures on my the homeplace are about 30 acres each in size....I have many more less than that, 20-10 each thereabouts.

Here you can't have BIG pastures, the terrain won't allow it. Plus there's so many trees it's not money worthy to spend the $$$$ to turn any land into pasture.
