Rand Paul: Republicans and Christians too eager for war

I think this point is made well, citing Jesus, the Prince of Peace, and the Just War Theory. I have found it ironic over the years to see Christians, including my parents, clamor for war. When I questioned the wisdom of going into Iraq, they were quite angry with me.

Jesus understood that our animal instincts make us crave a fight, and usually causes more problems than it solves. If we had left the middle east alone, we'd be trillions of dollars ahead, and thousands less would be dead or maimed for life. And we have accomplished nothing.

Statements like this might cost him a nomination, if he were to run, because so many like war, and the Military Industrial Complex (which Eisenhower warned us about) needs to be fed.

I'm interested. How do you know? It's hard for me to predict what would have happened. How do you know?

So, we were struck repeatedly but did little in response. What did that get us?

Almost 3000 Americans dead and a US economy crippled.

I'd say it was time we stirred up that farkin' hornet's nest in the middle east.

because so many like war,

some who will never serve or fight in a war, may not question it's costs.. but many Christians and republican conservatives have served, and will see it's cost as our children and grand children will serve..

so we do not like war.. most of US despise war...

but we also see the folly and true danger of ignoring evil...

often confronting a bully one must show a willingness to defeat them and to do so in a manner in which the bully will see the danger of ever picking on anyone again... and it is the strength of that confrontation that often avoids the actual fight.. or war..

and liberals often confuse the willingness to stand up to evil for a love of war..

Well said Steve

Dj. We hate war. We hate it so much that we don't want out sons and daughters to have to see it first hand
There are things we will lay down our lives for and ask nothing in return
Dj I don't really think you know they are and that is sad

OH! That's right!!!! We HAVE toyed with N. Korea for over 10 years costing us $Billion$.

Maybe we should define the terms.Police action or war?

you might want to try to define police state as well.. as it appears the federal departments are all gearing up for war as well.. :?

Many police actions turn into war at a later date, if not taken care of. Which costs more, a police action, or an unattended police action that turns into a war?

Think of it in terms of a law enforcement issue. Do you let a biker gang set up shop, in a new communtiy, or do you bust them, before they establish themselves?
