Peco electricity price to rise 21.5% Monday

Peco Energy Co. electricity customers are about to get a jolt in their bills.

The Philadelphia utility's residential price for electricity is slated to increase 21.5 percent on Monday.

Peco has 1.6 million customers in six counties.

Peco doesn't make any money off electricity supply - the cost is a pass-through. The utility earns its profits on a distribution charge it gets from all customers, regardless of who generates their power.

The last three months of 2012 also marks the final billing period that Peco's 160,000 electric heating customers will receive a discounted two-tiered rate from the utility.

for the 160,000 mostly low income customers who cant afford to switch from costly electric heat.. their bill will skyrocket higher...

Romney should run an ad with Obama's famous quote..
Barack Obama warned us under his plans, “electricity rates will necessary skyrocket

Rates have increased steadily in the past five to six years, even during the lengthy recession and a time of sluggish economic growth at best.

USA Today noted in December: “Electric bills have skyrocketed in the last five years, a sharp reversal from a quarter-century when Americans enjoyed stable power bills even as they used more electricity. Households paid a record $1,419 on average for electricity in 2010, the fifth consecutive yearly increase above the inflation rate, a USA TODAY analysis of government data found. The jump has added about $300 a year to what households pay for electricity. That’s the largest sustained increase since a run-up in electricity prices during the 1970s.”

If only someone had warned us that under Obama’s policies, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket

Under Obama, Electricity Rates Are ‘Necessarily’ Skyrocketing

Shawn Hannity tried to tell them before the 2008 election that Obama
was going to put the coal mines out of business (source of electricity)
and they voted for Obama anyway. Same with most of the coal-mining
states in the East...

I think the recent astronomical electric rate increases are horrible for the average person...

but few connect it to Obama's policy...

a simple effective ad would use his statement... facts from across the country.. and a comment..

before you vote look at your electric bill was it that high in 2008...

and ask how high will it be in 2016...

showing a person who can't afford to pay the bill in tears.. would seal the deal...

nothing would be more effective then a short reality check...

and the poor need to see who Obama is really hurting.. themselves..
