Tens & Hundreds of Ones Rally for Public Option in D.C. (Yes, I said ones.)
DailyKos | 09/14/2009 | BuckeyeTexan

Posted on Monday, September 14, 2009 11:16:38 AM by BuckeyeTexan

Tens and hundreds of dedicated liberal activists rallied in Washington D.C. on Sunday, 9/13 in support of the Democrats' Public Option for healthcare reform. The D.C. police and onsite conservative observers estimate the crowd size at a stunning 800 to 1000 people.

The huge turnout was due to the superior organizing skills of community organizations all across the United States. Dedicated individuals, sponsored by liberal organizations and enviromental lobbyists, were bussed in overnight to demand that Congress pass a public option as part of any meaningful healthcare bill in the House and Senate.

A few Kos Kids' comments for your reading enjoyment:

* It turns out Bob Reich initially called for it then he pulled back and even apologized, citing his own failure to organize as an example of Democratic party disorganization in general.

I know Julie Paulsen and others who worked very hard to get it organized but without "top down" assistance with logistics, or a high-profile leader, I think we're better off just knocking on doors and canvassing voters.

That's how we're gonna win anyway. We're already the majority. We just need to act like it.

* Is this the "March On Washington" people were all fired up about several weeks ago?
by bugscuffle on Sun Sep 13, 2009 at 10:28:37 AM PDT

* It was supposed to be. We got out marched by the teabaggers.

And that's just sad.

Say it ain't so.

It's true. They all started in the marshalling area and then followed the chief organizer, that they had pulled out of retirement.

He was the one that lead them to victory in the election.

I haven't found the time lapsed video to be able to count the number of attendees yet, but I'll keep my eye open. Looks like this might be a movement that grows.

The majority is on the rise.

Whatever the playbook is for rightwing agitators, you have learnt it well hypo, posting a ridiculous photo as usual to malign those who you are incapable of debating with.

I have had the flu since Thursday and no, I did not leave my home since Thursday.

but replying to peoples posts about different flavours of pie and pie crust is such a mature response by you and Badaxe, oh yes and then theres also the accusing of new posters of being someone else, again such maturity. If you don't want to comment on an article? don't but please quit taking up space ith your stupid responses, and for the record, I don't believe Hypo and WW are the same person, and I think your behavior towards WW has been totally ignorant and uncalled for :!:

I post material that is not propaganda. All I get from hypo and crowd by way of response to important issues is pornography or ridiculous photographs.

This thread is based on a story and pictures from a liberal site.

Reader, you were all over the numbers from the 9/12 project, I thought you'd be interested in the pro-obamacare rally in DC, the very next day.

Yanuck go look at what your buddies are posting in terms of pornographic or misogynistic statements. You want to keep that kind of company, fine.

I find Badaxe's form of humor less gross and insulting than what hopalong or Aplus or god forbid Pig Farmer posts.

As for WW, only time will tell.

I post material that is not propaganda. All I get from hypo and crowd by way of response to important issues is pornography or ridiculous photographs.

I feel pity for you that you cannot tell the difference between unverified cherry picked propaganda and credible sources.

you know Reader I can read and discern for myself what is credible and what isn't, you're going to have to realize one day that not everyone is as enamoured of the Pres. as you are, and if they are not does not mean they are racist, and just because you post it, does not make it the only opinion thats worth anything, and like it or not that is exactly how you come across to alot of posters here.

Yanuck -- I have posted a wide variety of things and very little of the articles I post have to do racism. Which you would know if you read what I posted.

Healthcare, Middle Eastern politics, term limits, you name it. The one thing I don't like having to read over and over is incessantly negative anti-Obama rants. I have nothing against criticizing the President or debating politics, but what hypo does is well beyond constructive criticism.

I'll tell you what, I'll keep an open mind and you do the same there, ya hear. :D

Reader FYI...I do read what you post! I read about everything on here, drives my husband nuts! you don't like anti Obma things...did ya ever think about all the people on here that don't like reading about how great Obama is and how stupid we all are? did ya? but because we don't its got to be because he's black, it couldn't possibly be because of anything else

I think people have different motives for not liking Obama Yanuck. Some are clearly opposed to him because of prejudice. Others are swayed by having heard propaganda against him and know little about him. Others are true conservatives and perhaps staunch Republicans and would oppose any liberal Democrat -- these I have no problem with by the way. Others fear him because he represents the unknown and things that make them uncomfortable.

But to me it makes no sense to have PB turn into a bash Obama forum. I would prefer it to be composed of more varied topics and heated and knowledge debate versus solely vitriolic anti-Obama rants.

what about all the money he's spent? that he said he wouldn't, what about all the things he said he would do and hasn't done? what about all that Reader?

Please be VERY specific Yanuck because vague statements like what you just made can't be refuted.

Whose administration started the bailouts and instituted TARP?

What would you have advised the Bush administration and next the Obama administration to in light of the economic crisis? Nothing?

Has the stimulus been U.S. only? No, China and Europe and other Asian countries also put in place stimulus packages well in advance of the U.S. which was late to the table.

Is the economy recovering? Well, it's too early to tell, but there are signs of a slow recovery.

What would have happened without the Stimulus Package? Impossible to know.

It's easy to criticize when you are not responsible for the well being of an entire nation and when you are unencumbered by knowledge.

This reminds me of the way people rant about the freedoms that Obama has taken away but stutter when asked to name a single freedom they have lost.

you truly are lost, in that city of DC, aren't you?

The freedom that many of them have lost is the freedom to turn on the television and see a president who is a white man.

what happened to no earmarks?
what happened to 5 days public comment before bills were signed?
what happened to rules about lobbyists being hired?
do I think the car companies should have been left to fail? you bet your ass I do, no one has ever bailed me out! wants vs needs is something alot of people in this country need to learn
if the economy is recovering why does the unemployment rate keep rising?

Honestly, Yanuck, several of those things you brought up annoy me as well.

But they are really not much different than the typical smattering of broken promises, political compromises, and lowering of expectations when the realities of assuming the head of the executive branch tear down the lofty rhetoric of the campaign.

In other words, Obama's transgressions are no more or less dramatic than your typical new administration.

Which begs the question - why then has there been such an unhinged reaction from some members of the right?
