Congresswoman Fears Hizbullah ‘Israel-Like Bombings’ in US

A Republican Congresswoman has warned that Hizbullah terrorists, hooked up with Mexican drug cartels, may be planning ”Israel-like bombings” against customs officials or National Guard units on the U.S. border.

North Carolina legislator Sue Myrick wrote Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, urging a task force "to engage U.S. and Mexican law enforcement and border patrol officials about Hizbullah's presence, activities, and connections to gangs and drug cartels."

Echoing previous reports of Hizbullah’s activity in the profitable drug trade, Myrick wrote, "The connection between Hizbullah and the drug cartels has seemed to grow over the past few years. This may be especially true on the U.S. southern border.

“Across states in the Southwest, well trained officials are beginning to notice the tattoos of gang members in prisons are being written in Farsi. We have typically seen tattoos in Arabic, but Farsi implies a Persian influence that can likely be traced back to Iran and its proxy army, Hizbullah. These tattoos in Farsi are almost always seen in combination with gang or drug cartel tattoos.”

Myrick also warned that the United States may face terror tunnels, similar to those Hizbullah used in the Second Lebanon War against Israel in 2006. Noting that the terrain along the American-Mexican border is similar to Israel’s, she wrote, “Hizbullah is extremely skilled in the construction of tunnels. Israel has time and again found Hizbullah tunnels leading into Israel, some of which are large enough to accommodate trucks. Likewise, …intelligence officials say that the drug cartels, in an effort to dig larger and more effective tunnels, are employing the expertise of Hizbullah.

Federal government documents have shown that that the United States apprehended two Syrians and 17 Iranians over a 12-month period ending this past April. Also nabbed at the border were dozens of others from other Muslim countries, including Sudan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.

Things You Might Not Know About the Arizona Immigration Law

There is nothing wrong with the Arizona law, and it seems that those who complain about it are doing so to gain political advantage among certain groups. Former Arizona Governor, and now Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, admits that she has not read the Arizona law, but still declares that it is a bad law. You might recall that Napolitano has been the subject of much controversy during her tenure as Homeland Security Secretary. For example, in March of 2009, she referred to acts of terrorism as “man-caused disasters.” Her statement that the 9/11 terrorists entered the U.S. through Canada caused an outcry from the Canadians. In fact, only one of the 9/11 terrorists entered the U.S. from Canada, and he was an Algerian citizen who was in Canada illegally.

Our government knows that members of the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah have crossed our border from Mexico. Middle Easterners take a circuitous route to come here. They leave from Europe, enter South America at the tri-border region, and learn the Spanish language. Then they travel to Mexico where they blend with the Mexicans who plan to come to the U.S. illegally.

Recently WSB-TV channel 2 in Atlanta did an investigative report on the illegal immigration problem in Arizona. They stated that thousands of illegals are classified as OTM—Other Than Mexican. The government no longer releases a report of the citizenship of detained illegals coming across the Mexican border. However, WSB-TV obtained a government report which shows that people are coming from Yemen, Egypt, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Sudan, and other nations that sponsor terrorism. The information in the report is based on people who are currently in custody for crossing the border and entering the United States illegally.

When WSB-TV showed the government report to Georgia Representative Paul Brown, who serves on the Homeland Security Committee, he was shocked. He was not even aware that such a list existed. As he told the reporter, “We can assume that most of these people from Middle Eastern countries are not coming here to cut our grass.” om

We know that the Mexican drug cartel smuggles drugs and illegals into the United States. But listen to what else is showing up on the ranches along the border: a Muslim prayer rug; military jackets with Arabic writing that translates: martyr—the way to eternal life; and clothing patches that depict airplanes flying into the Twin Towers.

One well-known terrorist is believed to have spent time in Atlanta after coming to the country through Mexico. This terrorist left Atlanta by bus. The next time you saw his face was on television, after he flew a plane into the Twin Towers.

I believe it is safe to agree with Congressman Brown’s assessment. Many of these people are not coming here to work hard so they can become citizens and live peacefully for generations in the land of opportunity. Many bear no resemblance to our ancestors who came here legally through Ellis Island and worked hard labor so they could prosper and raise their families in the land of the free and the home of the brave.

The United States has a 2,000 mile border that is patrolled by border agents using various means, including cameras, night vision, and underground censors. A former border patrol agent says that, in his experience, for every person who is caught, there are ten who escape detection. According to the Atlanta report, last year in Tucson, Arizona alone, a quarter million illegals were apprehended, and twenty percent of them had criminal records. That is 50,000 illegals in Tucson alone who had criminal records! And those are just the one out of ten that were caught. Could those who escaped detection be headed to your city or town?

Most Americans are not opposed to legal immigration. Unless you can trace all of your ancestral roots back to the Native American Indians, then you are here because somebody in your family immigrated to America. Legal immigration is not the issue. The purpose of the Arizona law is to address illegal immigration and stop people who might have criminal intent from crossing the American border. If people cannot obey our immigration laws to come to America, what is the chance they will obey our laws after they arrive?

This has become a serious issue in America, not only because of the drug cartel and crime, but because of the potential for more terrorism on our soil. Instead of complaining about a law that most of the whiners have not read and are using for political advantage, perhaps we should do everything possible to support the officials who are doing their best to keep the drug cartels, murders, gang members, and potential terrorists out of our country.
