Ok, I have a 1997 Polaris 500 Indy SKS. Dad got a 2005 800 classic-but it is hands off to me, so he said what I should do is fix mine up to my standards. What I would like for this sled to do by the time I am done with it is to give it a little more power (well, as much as possible, really), fix up the exhaust to make it sound *beautiful*, put on a new track, put on a new graphic/decal kit, lift the suspension and put on a 1.5" Camoplast track on it.
Has anyone redone a sled like this? How can I do this with a limited budget? Any specific brand names that have worked exceptionally well for you? I am planning on doing the work on my own, or with a friend, which is a mechanic, and not just a backyardigan. I do some racing on a track that a few local friends make every year.
Currently I have it in the shop and I am getting a new clutch put into it.
And Ideas/advice for upgrades?
Here is what it looks like right now, and yes, that is me in the pic. The only reason I was stick is because the little brother was on the back and I didn't want to have him bucked off, haha.
Thanks
