Remitall Complete Dispersal

It wouldn't surprise me if they were.
They are not the only ones in Alberta that are calling it quits. Land prices are extremely high and now with the cattle market would be the time to say "screw this place, it's BS and I'm outta here".

Been thinking that myself lately.

I just read in the paper that their US partner wanted out. All livestock , semen ect all goes. They are keeping the land. May they will start over with just Angus.

SemiAnnual total herd disposals are the staff of life in the Polled Hereford business for sure-I doubt they're totally quitting.

Like 90% of Polled Herf guys. Sell everything except 20 old cows and a few heifers or maybe keep the heifer calf crop. Wait 10 years and do it all over again.

They do it all the time in the Angus world complete dispersal and they never miss a bull sale.Hoff's have had about 3 complete dispersal's in the last 10 years and they are still playing the game. When I have a dispersal that will be it.Honesty is something the high roller's tend to lack..I have nothing against making money but be honest when you do it.TELL THE TRUTH.If they are in finacial trouble call it a Finacial Freedom sale.

The flyer in the Hereford World states this: COMPLETE DISPERSAL of the historic Remitall Polled Hereford Herd. Selling over 1000 head! August 23 and 24. Cowherd, herdsires, embryos, semen. Remitalls entire herdsire battery will sell! OVer 40 herdsires and semen interests. Sounds like they are going out of business to me, and not keeping anything back like some ov ouy are saying.

Their partner wants out and the only way to put a price on the cows was to disperse, that way its fair to everyone. I'm sure Latimers will just buy back what they want and continue on, they are great people.

Even if they do disperse, they won't be suffering. They've made money hand over fist how many years now???? Not too many regular commercial guys can afford their cattle. I know we couldn't.

Its kinda like those closing and going out of business sales furniture stores have    hey :!: theres no law saying you can't get back in business. I've been to a Local farmers Auction sale 3 times in the last 30 years. Sale keeps getting better every time :) Can you think of a better way of getting rid of those Old Crock Cows and junky machinery :!: Wife wanted you to clean up the yard anyway.

I knew it would go downhill after they dispersed their Gelbvieh :) Actually we bought some darn good cows from their Gelbvieh dispersal a few years back. The thoughts of that old sale barn still makes me cold!

If you are a multiplier or marketer, thats what you do. The real breeders who are in it for the long term don't have periodic cow sales. Its not just a polled thing either. I know of some pretty prominant horned breeders that seem to have cow sales about every other year. How do you really know how good your cows are if you don't keep them over till they are more than 5 or 6 years old.

Simple they are buying the farm back from investors. Good time buy the best back at pennies on the dollar. Get rid of the smurfs buy back the best angus and start with another breed ie) simms.

I seriously doubt that Latimers ever sold any part of their landbase to Grandview........they can disperse, capitalize on their genetics & be back in business by retaining embryos, semen interests as well as buying back animals. Remitall's Hereford genetics are at the top of the industry at present.......just witness their production sale records;semen sales & championships; not many PB operators of any breed can match their accomplishments or the general acceptance of their Hereford genetics! They've had a great go with their Angus and while it is a newer enterprise I can see them continuing this venture. As far as other breeds they've been there; done that & quit them cold!

CS since when is the cowherd not part of the farm. Where can the latimers go in the hereford business, nowhere but down you are right they are at the pinnicle no better time to disperse. And as for them dumping the herefords and finding another breed about to explode in the market. they dispered a gelbvieh herd in the same position as their hereford herd is right now and then got into angus so they will keep the angus and find a new breed to get into so they can make buckets of dollars from new breeders. It is foolishness to think this operation will go back into the hereford breed, afterall if past actions are the best indicator of future actions they will be looking for another breed to get involved in.
