The prices for these good replacement heifers are pretty crazy. We had another customer sell yesterday. They weighed 500 lbs and they got $252.50/cwt!!! I don't remember a Red Angus heifer bring under steer price, most have been at least $20/cwt higher.

Have another customer selling tomorrow, and they will be real high!!! Are you guys seeing this in your area too?

At $1475 a head it makes me feel better about spending $2000 for bred Red Angus heifer's.

I think $2000 for a bred heifer is a good buy. A 1350 lbs cull cow will $ out over $1100, while a 525 lbs feeder heifer calf will bring close to $950. By using the old saying, 1 cull cow and 1 heifer calf to replace your culls, you are $50 ahead by buying a $2000 heifer.

I would bet if you come to minesota come december you'll fill your trailers with $1500 bred heifers

First real offering of bred heifers locally brought $1500 - $1800 or a little more. I think bred replacements are going to be hard to come by here. Talked to several guys that are going to keep their older cows and take better care of them now that feed has gotten cheaper

The first bred heifer sale around here was the first Saturday in November. Here are the prices.

Bred Heifers
McIntosh 86 Red Bred Hfrs - 1025 - 2275.00
McIntosh 68 Red Bred Hfrs - 950 - 2225.00
McIntosh 40 Red Bred Hfrs - 942 - 2160.00
McIntosh 12 Red Bred Hfrs - 921 - 2000.00
McIntosh 33 Rwf Bred Hfrs - 985 - 1950.00
McIntosh 6 Red Bred Hfrs - 987 - 1900.00
Mobridge 61 Blk/Bwf Hfrs - 960 - 1850.00
Mobridge 12 Blk/Bwf Hfrs - 986 - 1800.00

Still Drought in my neck of the woods. Bred heifers bring $1500-$1600 hear. Good young 3-4-5 year old bred cows $1200-$1500. Send your buyers

And NO red fever has not struck in Texas yet. Must be black to get these prices.

Those are great prices. Makes a guy wonder if he shouldn't sell every heifer on the place and buy back breds.

You can never buy as good of a heifer,as you can raise at home!

Another bull customer sold at Ft Pierre today. He had 109 heifer calves that weighed 545 lbs and sold for $2.45 per lbs.
