Sure is a lot of peopl there this early. Could this be the beginning of real change???????

The Rev. Al Sharpton called the demonstration an anti-government rally advocating states' rights. And Sharpton said that goes against the message in King's speech, in which the civil rights leader appealed to the federal government to ensure equality.

"The structural breakdown of a strong national government, which is what they're calling for, is something that does not serve the interests of the nation and it's something that Dr. King and others fought against," Sharpton said Saturday on C-SPAN.

"It is ironic to me that they come on the day of a speech where Dr. King appealed for a strong government to protect civil rights and they're going to the site of Abraham Lincoln who saved the union against the state rebellion," he said.

Sharpton and others planned to rally at a high school and march to the site of a proposed King memorial not far from the Lincoln Memorial.

Mike,

post something you believe that Glen Beck says and I will show you he is lying to you based on previous deeds by Beck and things he has said. He is nothing but a corporate shill. This is not because he is conservative or liberal, he is just a liar and idiots believe him as he SAYS THINGS YOU WANT TO HEAR but he does not believe a word of it.

Hello,

I just arrived home from the rally..

what a crowd!

we parked at the Kennedy center, and walked over... the area around the Lincoln Memorial was packed crowd, we couldn't even get through, so we went around to meet up with friends who were by the WW2 memorial..

by 10 at the start it was hard to get anywhere near any place where you could see thankfully we had already found a spot..

it was larger then the 9-12 rally... I couldn't judge the size as it was nearly impossible to see where the crowd tapered off, it stretched from the Lincoln Memorial to the Washington Memorial and was well beyond the Korean memorial, they had cordoned off the Vietnam vets memorial lawn, as well as the streets to the south, and west, and "all" the memorial parking was blocked off.. :?

a few friends from Camp Lejeune were up so we talked for about two hours after the rally and there was still a steady stream of people leaving,...

I took a few pictures and will try to post them..

Al Sharpton an other civil rights leaders, meanwhile, protested the event and scheduled a 3-mile plus march from a high school to the site of a planned King memorial near the Tidal Basin and not far from Beck's gathering.

I doubt Al made it the whole 3 miles....................

What a pathetic little man Sharpton is. He is on Geraldo tonight and they are watching Glenn's rally and he is complaining about what Glenn did today. I guess he didn't care being shown up BIG TIME.
