WH lashes out at CNBC's Santelli
Politico ^ | February 20, 2009 | JOSH GERSTEIN

The White House is lashing out publicly and personally at a CNBC reporter whose attack on President Barack Obama’s anti-foreclosure plan caught fire on the Internet on Thursday.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs jumped at the chance to go after the CNBC journalist, Rick Santelli, when a question about his bracing critique was asked at Friday’s news briefing.

“I’ve watched Mr. Santelli on cable the past 24 hours or so. I’m not entirely sure where Mr. Santelli lives or in what house he lives but the American people are struggling every day to meet their mortgages, stay in their jobs, pay their bills, send their kids to school,” Gibbs said. “I think we left a few months ago the adage that if it was good for a derivatives trader that it was good for Main Street. I think the verdict is in on that,” the press secretary said, poking directly at the cable journalist, who reports from the trading floor at the Chicago Board of Trade.

Gibbs insisted Santelli was misinformed when he said Obama’s program would amount to a transfer of money from prudent taxpayers to those who had taken reckless risks.

If a bailout rewards people who did not make their bill payments - what are the feds going to do for those who do pay their bills?

Raise their taxes?

Nice reward. (sarcasm)

It seems this Santelli guy has struck a chord that might continue onward - and the new administration does not like it.

I wonder what type of personal investigations and possible smear action he will undergo at the hands of the new government - past experience shows it does not pay to p!ss them off.

The people who need to be rewarded are those who carry the country on their backs - those people are the folks who pay the taxes that keep the country running.

It seems to me the payments to pay for this massive debt increase will be the potential undoing of a once great nation.

I am truly afraid you are headed for the ditch - and that is a selfish concern - as where the US economic elephant goes, the Canadian mouse economy soon follows.

Crazy isn't it? Bankers get bailed out and now they want to bail out those who do not pay their mortgages.

These are the two people that got us in this mess and they are the ones being rewarded for doing bad! While those of us that did not mess up have to pay for it.

Upside down liberal world we live in now!

There are quite a few things that have disappeared of the internet since Obama showed up on the scene. He did have 90 people working on his internet campaign team. It's called scrubbing!
