Sandhusker just a hint to help you out in cow country. If you say you want to count cows you count cows not all cattle and calves and feeders and replacements and bulls. Ask Soapweed how many cows he has and what would he tell you? Ask a feedlot how many cows the have and they might just say we don't have any but we do have 10,000 strs.

I'll repost with a highlight of what you didn't catch the first time.

Nebraska has around 6,500,000 head of cattle - 1.9MM is only our mommas. Figure a 95% calf crop and add that to the cows & calves number - make it around 3.7MM.

BMR, "Sandhusker I did a little checking and Nebraska has 1.9 million cows and Saskatchewan has over 4 million. Sask. has 1.508 million cows at 27% of the Canadian national cow herd."

Ummmm, you're giving me crap?    Which is it, 4MM or 1.508MM? Where did the 4MM come from?

Want to argue next on who's dad is the toughest?

I thought Canada said before they only had 7 million cows when they were arguing they wouldn't affect the cull cow market-- Now Big Muddy says Sakatchewan has 4 million alone  That would make Saskatcheewan the biggest cow producing province- which will probably upset some Alberta Canucks...

In other words Sandhusker- they are shoveling BS around like normal and trying to make it come out facts....

Sandhusker ,You said count cows so that's what I did. It was confusing finding related data so I dug a little deeper. and found cow numbers, you know apples to apples. I admitted that Nebraska has abot 300,000 more cows. I also showed the percent of our respective national cow herds. You come in at 6.6% and we come in at 27%.

Haymaker outed us. Heck we walked into Deadwood together as a couple and had our pictures taken together. I'd say we outed ourselves on that and I had poated my name on the here when a bunch of us did so we knew who we were talking to. Econ is about the only one that's to much of a coward to post who he is. probably a civil servant.

So everyone you meet who doesn't tell you their name is a coward or a civil servant? With reasoning like that I can see why you think your 27% of a smaller pie should out weigh a 6.6% of a larger pie, especially when your pie is from another country even though the 6.6% is bigger.

BMR, you need to continue to try to dictate your own country first (where you have failed miserably) before you come over here and try to dictate.

I know- I know-- :p But thats a secret between Econ and I   And he's definitely not a civil servant    But he does have good reason for staying in the bushes for awhile- but he can explain that to you himself when/if the time is right...

I think it's kind of funny that you got on me about listing all cattle instead of just cows (even though I did seperate out the cows), when you did exactly that with your 4 million figure. I got a good chuckle out of that. It's easy to make a mistake, but you kinda leaked upwind there.

So you've got a bigger slice of a smaller sample. Congratulations. I'll bring a cow into town and then I'll have 100% of the city cow herd. You think that fact will get me a NCBA invite to their next checkoff meeting?

Sandhusker, with the size of your cowherd and the number of cattle on feed in Nebraska it looks like your healthy feeding industry in Nebraska is dependent on imports. Could you tell us where those imports that your feeding industry is dependent on come from?

Sandhusker, that is amazing! Do you really not know that any cattle producer, even those with only one cow, has a standing invitation to meetings of both the state Beef Council and the NCBA Federation of State Beef Councils. You would, however, have to pay your dues to attend the meeting of NCBA Policy Division if that was the meeting you chose to attend.

I'd be a fool to pay any dues to vote on NCBA policy - policy seems to change at the whim of management. I'd rather spend my money where I would actually get a return on investment.

What did you think of the OIG report?

You know that answer doesn't really surprise me. You R-CALFers live with your heads so far up a dark place the sun looks like a firefly.

I guess you didn't notice OT that I had the integrity to correct myself when i found the correct information.

OT was I wrong about Sandhuskers beloved cattle feeders in Nebraska using imported feeders?
