"Congressional leaders in both parties are engaged in high-level, confidential talks about exempting lawmakers and Capitol Hill aides from the insurance exchanges they are mandated to join as part of President Barack Obama's health care overhaul, sources in both parties said."
That comes from a recent Politico article detailing discussions that some on Capitol Hill - members of Congress and staff from both parties - are having in an attempt to exempt themselves from the requirements of ObamaCare.
Wait a second. What?
Your read that right. Those who represent us in Washington are suggesting that they - the very ones who passed Obamacare - are finding ways to weasel their way out of having to follow that law.
This line from that article is especially compelling:
"...lawmakers - especially those with long careers in public service and smaller bank accounts - are also concerned about the hit to their own wallets..."
Of course they are upset about the hit their wallet will take. Aren't we all?
This is absurd and an example of government hypocrisy: Do as I say, but not as I do.
While many on Capitol Hill are backpedaling since this report has come out, one thing is very clear: our elected officials - the very ones who voted for this flawed piece of legislation - recognize that Obamacare is expensive to individuals and crippling to small businesses.
Patriot Voices is compiling a petition to present to Congress to tell them that exempting themselves from Obamacare is wrong, hypocritical and a slap in the face to our democratic process.
Please sign our petition today. It can make a difference.
Game on!
