Right chilly morning

The temp got down to 29 this morning. Hopefully it didn't set my hay back too much. The Sandhill cranes have been viciously attacking my wheat fields the last two weeks and the leaves are really starting to turn. I think Fall has arrived.

we had terrible winds last night, sounded like we were living next to the train tracks when that cold front moved in. we did not freeze but it sure feels good. almost all of the birds have packed their bags and left. I think that we are going to have an early fall and the Farmers Almanac says we are going to have a real winter in Montana and the Dakotas. That must mean that I can put the fire fighting stuff away sometime before Christmas

It's kind of funny hearing about birds leaving that far south of me-they are just starting to flock up here. We had a Canada Goose flying around on New Year's Day last year-I think he missed the bus though.

Well it is still summertime in Alabama. And we need some more hay growing weeks yet. When she starts pulling the covers up over her at night it will be time to get that last cutting on the ground.

It was -0.4 here this morning, and not the first frost either. Leaves are turning, so hopefully the fall colors will be good.

Even here in NE TX the last few mornings have been cooler, lower 60's. Sure felt good . Does it seem like summer has gone by fast ? It seems like just a short time ago I was reading about you'all calving up there, and I guess that was Jan and Feb.

It's was pretty chilly here this morning and all day...I think the high today was only 77...which beats the 90+ temps we've had...I'm not quite ready for fall yet...but who am I to slow it down? lol
Cool Clouds this morning....

Those are some really neat pictures Jassy.

We got up to 64 today without counting the northern breeze that was blowing had to work most of the day in a light jacket. I am trying to grow some third cutting alfalfa ( which to my knowledge has never been done here before) so hopefully it will survive again tonight and we can get a few more days of good weather. sw I noticed that some of the big flocks of blackbirds pulled out yesterday, maybe we should pack up and follow them. I hear tell that if we go far enough there are dark skinned wimmen that will bring cold drinks with little umbrellys in them. :D Also nobody uses that nasty four letter word that sends chills down your neck and freezes your bones, you know SNOW

We did have snow in the mountains a couple of weeks ago but since I don't have any hay down there isn't a chance of moisture around here, but I'm fixin to cut two hundred acres of second cutting about Tuesday so the feed ought to be softened a little for the rest of the month.
