Rodeo Update

We had an interesting rodeo weekend-we managed to get some broncs loaded on the frost and hauled them to a rodeo 100 miles south. Ty was entered up too but he bucked off at around seven seconds. Our broncs went 2 and 0-bucked-the blue paint stud was real strong. Today we bucked all three horses-the white paint stud 'Splat' just drilled his guy in the bareback. We switched deliveries and moved 'Gooch' from broncs to bareback and he blew the guys hand out first jump. The blue paint was a strong 19 again and bucked his guy off. Ty had a tough day-took three rerides-the first horse fell on him-the second ran over a pickup horse and then the third bucked him off. Was good to see the ponies go 5-0 though lol.

I was Flanking, Shauna was timing, Ty was riding, raking barrels and cracking latches and we had broncs bucking. It takes alot of little dips in the money trough to keep going down the road. Good broncs are worth alot of money-these young horse need some trips to see just how good they are. Those two studs we leased are bucking ponies-I'm very lucky to get the use of them. Can't wait to use them on our "Blue Feather' fillies.

Hey NR,
I think it you were the one that posted something about bringing some kids down to Farmington for the High Rodeo Finals. Let me know if you come down on I-25 through the Raton Area, if nothing else you can come out and let the boys out to stretch for a bit and if I am moved into my place by then there might even be a place to stay if ya need it.

is there better money in supplying the stock than rinding them??

I know my friend who is a stock contractor will tell you it's tough right now. Between hay and fuel costs, his profits are slim. He's trying to get some of his rodeo contracts adjusted to include a fuel credit since he never anticipated these fuel prices when he entered into them a few years ago.

This friend has some great bucking stock, and has been able to sell his bulls for good money. Recently he sold two head of bulls for over $100,000, and he laughed that now he would be able to buy some hay... I guess laugh or you'll cry :?

nemrancher how far is your place from Farmington? After this winter it's going to be tough to make it if we don't get a sponsor. The bad thing about High School is you can't win any money-he's been entering other rodeos trying to win enough to keep going lol.

NR, our place is about 300 miles from Farmington, thats why I was asking if you planned on using I-25 to get there. I think there are shorter more direct paths if you dont mind driving on two lane highways and cutting through the mountains.

Thanks Mrs. Greg, I couldn't think of a better way to spend a mother's day :)
I'll let you know if his horse makes it to the Daines sale so you can see it go. I'd like to be there to see it myself, but I won't be making it :(
Chris is working on getting it trailered down there, but haven't heard if he's got a ride for sure yet.

My goal is to raise some broncs good enough to go to the Kling's sale in North Dakota-until then I'll just sell to some contactors who've helped me out by bucking my stock at their rodeos. Nemrancher of course I don't mind driving on two lane roads through the mountains-half the fun will be getting there. Were staying in Buffalo, Wyoming the first day out at my friends place for sure then we'll go from there.

We had a busy weekend-600 miles and four rodeos-Ty won the highschool saddle bronc so sitting 1st in province right now-touched his horse with his free hand at 7 seconds today or he'd off won that one too. My bulls and horses had 20 outs too-they were pretty good for first trips. I flanked about 60 head-I'm getting better at it but still alot to learn!!!
