Wonder if OT's observed hatred for Mormons is because they own large ranches and DO NOT PAY TAXES?

oh heck ot, those mormons believe in one man, and ten or more women. kinda like those that believe in the 72 virgins, but the mormons don’t wait til after death, the mormons practice this in the real life. yet, they don’t believe in gays getting married, they hold that ritual for their own harem of women, kinda like the catholic priest do with children. the mormons don’t advertise this practice today. today, they deny this, they kinda went back in the closet, however, they practiced this in the past, yet Polygyny is still practiced today. God, don’t you just love the religious right...NOT, they are a bunch of hypocrites, bigots, and liars. ...

Wow Oldtimer pulls out the Tammy Faye comment AGAIN I'm hurt

Face it Oldtimer you can't defend Obama any more so you bring up issues about his opponent's RELIGION when Obama sat in a Church for twenty years with a RACIST AMERICAN HATING PASTOR. This is like the Dog on the top of the car distraction when OBAMA ATE A DOG. Stop with the Obama talking point distraction and stick to what is really important. THE ECONOMY STUPID.

When you can claim the US as a whole not just Valley County Montana is better off than they were 4 years ago you will have something but until then I expect we will be reading a whole lot of your distracting threads RIGHT OLDTIMER?

OT, ever notice every Marriot has a Book of Mormon in the desk drawer?? The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint's is the major stockholder. :D

I think very few people will be turned against Romney because of his faith. At least he has one and practices it openly and unapologetically. Yes a few extreme evangelicals think of the Mormon Church as a cult but goggle it a few times and you'll find that most mainline denominations accept it even though they disagree with some of the theology. (What else is new?). 40,000 denominations in the US tells me that very few agree totally on anything.

I have to disagree with you flounder-- as the average Mormons I know have no multiple wives or whatever...No different than I am...
But apparently there are many different "types" of followers of Mormonism...Like those we see on the weekly TV show with multitiudes of wives (poor man) call themselves fundamentalists... Kind of like the radical Muslims are fundamentalists- and many of the others are little different from most of us (BUT don't tell that to a rightwingernut because according to them they are all out to get us because they are different  )...

I also remember some neighbors that were Mormons- that were often over at the house- and drank coffee and loved beer (all things he said Mormons weren't supposed to do) - and who I saw pickled on many of an occasion... He was a "Jack" Mormon- and is now one of the top elders in the local church... Sure seemed like a normal guy to me....

Wonder if OT's observed hatred for Mormons is because they own large ranches and DO NOT PAY TAXES?

And that is one of the reasons I've heard most often associated with the complaints against the Mormon church and their ownership/financing of ranchs, farms, business's, and shopping centers... Except around here we hear a lot more complaining about the Hutterites- and years ago it was the Church Univeral and Triumphant (CUT)...
But according to the Hoots- they claim to pay every tax !?

And whatever Tam and those that live in their sheltered little back 40 world say-- this is not something I made up...Its been around for the 60+ years I have- and in reading history- its been around much longer than that....
And most those I've heard complaining over the years have been the wingernuts like so many of those on this board-- so was wondering if their R cult loyalty overrode their nutso thinking loyalty...

And one of the reasons I was so happy to watch two of the bigotted Tea Party candidates go down the tubes...

WASHINGTON -- Rick Santorum, the former Pennsylvania senator who has suddenly become Mitt Romney's top challenger for the Republican presidential nomination, raised a provocative question about Romney's Mormon faith in a 2007 newspaper column:

Would the potential attraction to Mormonism by simply having a Mormon in the White House threaten traditional Christianity by leading more Americans to a church that some Christians believe misleadingly calls itself Christian, is an active missionary church, and a dangerous cult?

His next paragraph began: "Assume for the sake of argument that there are valid considerations."

The column was Santorum's response to Romney's famous "Faith in America" address, in which the former Massachusetts governor tried to reassure evangelical Christians and other religious voters that he shared their values. Santorum's ultimate verdict on Romney was more or less positive: "He should be a viable choice for voters whose faith matters to them," Santorum wrote.

But throughout the piece, Santorum drew distinctions between Mormonism and Christianity that others have avoided lest they seem overly inflammatory in a political context.

For instance, Santorum wrote of Romney's speech, "He tried to address the questions by discussing Jesus, suggesting that the specific theological tenets of Mormonism are not in any important respect different from those of traditional Christianity. I disagree."

Romney was the highest-ranking lay leader of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Boston. And skepticism if not fear of his deep Mormon faith is widely considered to be a significant and ongoing problem for him among evangelical voters in particular.

-------------------

The undercurrent of anti-Mormon concern has only occasionally risen to the surface of the political discourse. One notable exception came in October, when a prominent Texas pastor who introduced Texas Gov. Rick Perry at the Values Voters Summit called Mormonism a "cult."

Folks, mainstream Mormon's quit practicing pologamy a hundred ears ago. Infact, you will be excommunicated (fancy word for kicked out) of the church if you are a pologimist. Instead of guessing or making things up about the Mormon religion, try asking one. I am a member of the mormon church, a slang term it's really The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have no intention of trying to force my religion on ya, but if ya have questions shoot me a PM. I am mildly amused and slightly offended by what some of ya'll "KNOW" about a subject you might find you don't know ANYTHING about. I am not some zealot or a scriptorian. I am a guy who loves the Lord and does my best (which mostly isn't very much) to follow his teachings and mind my own beeswax. Ya'll worship how ya please. And if ya have a question, i'll do my best to answer it. :D

Just do me a favor.....Judge Romney fairly on his business and political views and record. His religion, like yours is a personal decision.

Flounder,
your comments about mormons are blatant lies and you need to put a bridle on your comments. Try thinking before spouting off BS please. Or keep talking and continue to prove the size of your brain is pretty small.

I have dealt with LDS members in Salt Lake & St. George, Utah, Phoenix, and Los Angeles. At least the ones I dealt with were all one thing: finest kind. You could wear out a new pickup trying to find folks any better. One of my best friends was LDS in Hawaii who passed away 2 years ago. I still think of him every day.

Deseret owns a ranch here in Nebraska, and I've heard it's pretty close to one of Trillionaire Ted Turner's ranches. Folks up that way have reported to me that the folks on the Deseret are more than willing to neighbor and lend a helping hand if asked by neighbors. The Turner folks aren't near as neighborly is the report I got.

I think folks could do a helluva lot worse than have LDS for neighbors or friends.

Leaning shoer was raiser in the church. Alot of the "beliefs" I agree with. Family first and put aside time each week for them. Keeping supplied both in the pantry, bank account, and community.
As for the church helping members I dont see a problem with that....its called networking everywhere else. We all do it including members of our church.

Dont let flounder and ot upset you with their posts all they want is to inflame and spread lies and hate. neither is worth the effort to fight cuz all they do is change it up and lie some more. Funny how the DNC says its the party of inclusive but yet do all these personal attacks. They hate what this country is founded on and has stood for.
Dont give them the satisfaction of getting your goat ....ooppsss bad choice of words LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
