Ron Paul, Ron Paul, Ron Paul!!!

Mitt Romney and John McCain may be fighting for the front-runner mantle in the Republican presidential race, but it’s Texas Rep. Ron Paul who led the field in donor contributions last quarter, according to just-released campaign finance reports. On the back of two record-breaking days of online fundraising, Paul brought in $20 million during the October-through-December period, virtually all of it from individuals. That’s twice as much as either McCain or Romney collected from individuals in the same period — $7 million for McCain and $9 million for Romney.

Romney took in the most money overall for the fourth quarter by virtue of an $18 million loan from his personal funds. For Paul, the cash influx pushed his total receipts for the year to $28.2 million, with $7.8 million in spending money going into 2008.

Paul is likely to get another significant financial boost today, thanks to a supporter-driven fundraising initiative to honor the candidate’s 51st wedding anniversary and give him an edge going into the Super Tuesday primaries next week. This is just the latest in a series of “moneybombs” planned to demonstrate support for Paul; another is targeted for April 15, tax day.

Paul's problem is that the media won't give him any print - they've decided who the "top tier" are and who the also-rans will be. He's the only candidate from either party that has any respect for the law.

Paul's problem is he's viewed as a kook and most Americans don't agree with closing down OSHA and some of his other far out ideas.

We lived in this country a long time without OSHA. I can remember when that law was implemented and there were plenty of upset people.
Just more beauracracy. Wonder how big OSHA is now?

You look at WHY he is saying to shut down OSHA and WHY he is saying what he is and he's firmly grounded legally.

If you call his ideas "far out" and call him a "kook", you're saying Adams, Jefferson, Madison, Franklin, et al are far out kooks, because he's speaking the same as they spoke. You reject Paul, and this great experiment started by our forefathers is over - worked for a while, but we're going to try something different now.

I didn't call Ron Paul Ron Paul!! a kook. His problem is that most people see him that way.

Former Gov. Mitt Romney convincingly won the Maine Republican caucus tonight with about 52% of the vote.

The current GOP front-runner, Arizona Sen. John McCain, is running a distant second with 22% and Rep. Ron Paul, the libertarian-minded longshot, is in a very close third with 19% of the vote. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is trailing badly with only 5%

McCain spent almost no money or time in Maine. Ron Paul specifically targeted the state because he felt like it was one of his best chances to actually win. He was wrong. He's not going to be the Republican nominee and the Republican establishment is not going to offer him a VP spot. So what's his next move? Third party candidate. I think that's a great idea.:D
