Since Ron Paul won the straw poll at CPAC, I wonder what some of you think of his chances in 2012? I think he's kinda goofy, but there's no question that he's a true conservative. He might be just what we need to get out of this mess.

But even if he could win the Republican nomination, I just can't figure out who he could get to run with him for a running mate. I'm not sure he could get along with any of the other well-known Republicans. He's pretty independent and set in his ways.

And then there's the matter of his age - I think he's in his mid-70's now. That doesn't bother me, but we saw what the Dems did with McCain and the age issue. So I'm sure they would make a big deal out of it with Ron Paul, too.

What do you guys think about him? Too old? Too goofy? Too independent? Too conservative? Or is he just right?

And if you like his chances, who would you like to see run with him?

I like what he stands for...

we need to move in his direction.. but slowly... in small steps.. this country is to dependent on the FED government and needs to be weaned off, but Ron Paul might try to do to much to quickly..

as for electability... to many writings and comments can be attributed to him, that make him look "Too old? Too goofy? Too conservative?" too libertarian

They were talking to Ron Paul on FOX today and he was saying that the majority that supported him at CPAC was the younger Conservatives. Which is kind of a surprise considering he will be 75 this summer.

Since some would not vote for McCain due to his age I think the Republicans need to look at someone a bit younger and not from the Washington Gang. They need to find a High Profile Governor that has a excellent record as a CONSERVATIVE not a Liberal Light. The person should also be well respected by the voters of His or Her State. No more smooth talking unknown with no record to prove what kind of manager/businessperson/leader he or she will make.

I think Ron Paul is a little too "radical" to get elected, though he sure has ideas I like.

Although Sarah Palin is the sweetheart of the moment, and I can see her getting the nomination, I can't see her getting elected.

I truly believe that Mitt Romney is the guy. Successful businessman, Governor, etc., he has the know how to run the country and be held accountable for his actions.

What I would REALLY like to see is a Romney/Palin ticket...they would be unbeatable IMO, but I doubt Sarah would settle for the second banana spot, but it would give her ample time to hone her craft and learn the ropes. I'd imagine it's all wishful thinking, anyhow......

Remember the question and answer session on tv during the primaries? The thing I remember most about Ron Paul was his complaining to the media that he and a few others weren't getting their fair share of questions so that they could get their views across to the people. He was right. At least when he did get a chance to answer questions, he was pretty straight forward and not trying to dodge the hard ones. I think Ron Paul is a pretty straight shooter whether you agree with him on everything or not.
