Been in on a couple of black bear ropings. Most of them don't last too long when the rope comes tight. Couple of brothers east of here have an on going contest to see how many they can catch in a summer. One of them was riding a colt a few years back and got the bright idea to shoot a bear "buffalo style". The gun went off, the bear let out a bawl when he tipped over and a couple of miles later Pat got his horse stopped. :D
Back in the 60's a former neighbor roped a two year old grizz and kept it for a pet until the Game Warden got wind of it and made him turn it loose.

Yes, it does happen. :D

In the 70's we were roping wild horses and burros in the Saline Valley - my partner was chasing something - I asked him what - He said "I don't know-I was going to drag it back and ask you what it was." Lucky he missed it - I saw it, and it was a Mountain Lion.

There are a lot of Old California Photo's of the 3 or 4 Spanish Vaqueros roping Grizzlies on the net.

I had a friend that roped a cow on his red wheeler and dallied to the handle bars. I looked much like the one gcreek has after the cow was done with it.

Id try to bulldog it ONCE. but not twice. Weve roped deer off of the four wheeler before. a cow will never do as much damage as a deer. did rope a cow off a jet ski a few months back that got kinda hairy 8)

Would be something to see, a 160-180 lb Cajun wrassling with an 800 lb furball with big teeth and 5 inch claws.
Somehow the visual is kind of bloody.
