Royal Rito L2

On google I typed in 'Ben Lawson Royal Rito' and came up with this.
www.hoffmanaibreeders.com/angus

He is a Stacker son out of a daughter of the old PCB 707 bull. I've always thought I liked Royal Rito, but we never wanted to used Stacker.
We have an opportunity to buy some Royal Rito sons from the folks
we buy our bulls from. Just wondered what information
might be out there on him. This website touts him as a carcass sire
too, which is secondary to us as we are after females. But it 's nice
to get both in a package you can live with.

I like the Rito lines too, PPRM, and have tried to keep that
in the bloodlines of our cattle. We have deviated a little from that
lately and I think it is time to go back to it. Rito cattle seem to
really grow fast as calves and we like the females.

Heres a link to the angus board and his updated EPD's--Looks pretty good - appears to be keep moderate frames....One of the tops I've seen for scrotal EPDS.....

Thank you ever so much, OT. These EPD's look better than the ones
I posted the link to. Interesting that they call him a carcass bull but
the carcass info on your link is all minus (of course in some areas minus
is good). I like the moderation and the double bred Rito 707 on the
bottom side. I only use the EPD's to see if something sticks out
that I don't like. I am not a real EPD person, but I do check
the milk EPD and some on birthweight.

I remember when they interviewed Dale Davis and asked him what the
best bull he ever raised was and he answered, Rito 707. He's had
a lot of good bulls since that time, yet 707 was the one he named.

I loved his newsletter he use to put out.. :D :D :D I am not a real Rito fan. But with Lawson I wouldn't bat an eye and use him......We have the medellion and several other bloodlines in our cows and they all were great. Wish I could remember the other bulls... Old age sucks...... golden years my arse.....

Well, guess what? I have been looking for some papers around this place
and am cleaning up some piled up stuff (and boy, is Mr. FH happy about that!!!!!). I came across an old Bovagene newsletter. So Katrina, here
are some of his bulls:
Marriott, of course.
TA El Tigre
BSA Beefmaker
Forever Fortune L1
Pioneer of Nobleland
Shoshone Viking GD60
Ankonian Cornhusker
Mr. B Blackcap Bando Rito
Midas 9051 LCR
Royal Rito L2
(BTW, here is his footnotes on this bull written in Jan, 1999.
"Royal Rito traces 4 times to Rito 707. He has just started to
show his value.Daughters now calving look excellent. Powerful,
balanced and beautiful."
Tigre Grande P515
Rhythm and Blues
Valentino L1 504

I think he really thought Rhythm and Blues was going to do great things,
but it seems like that bull died young.
Wonder what happened to Ben? I think he sold all the cows.
Was his wife ill? I always appreciated what he wrote. He darn
sure didn't worry about being politically correct in the Angus world!

fh, Bless your heart....See a clean desk wouldn't have such valueable information.......We used the Beefmaker, and Pioneer bull. Some of our older cows carry that blood line...... And good ones they are.... Deep, thick and great dispositions..... All the bulls we used had good utters and were structerally correct so they could walk a mile if they had two.. I don't know what happened either..Was it a new wife??? Or just bad health?? Can't remember, but do like his cattle.......

I really don't think it was a new wife. Seems like his wife had some
health problems, though.

Pioneer Of Nobeland was a Traveler 124 son, MGS was RR Rito
Highroller. I liked that bull. Medicine Rocks Ranch at Willard
used a lot of Ben's genetics and had some really good cattle as
a result. We used Double Your Fortune as a heifer bull, couldn't
be beat.

Looks like a good solid Bull......I am not a fan of "Double Bred".....aka as INBREEDING......It lines up too many recessives....That being said, disposition is huge to me.....
