Maybe this doesn't belong in Political Bull, but some GM dealers were offering a premium to Toyota owners who traded for a GM a while back, during the peak of their unintended acceleration problems. Will the treatment and coverage of these two companies be different? Will Ford still be confident enough to run internet ads as a "safe alternative"?

FRANKFORT, Ky. --
A Louisville woman said she feels lucky to be alive after she couldn't put the brakes on her runaway vehicle.

Marlene Taylor and her twin daughters were in a 2008 Chevy Equinox on their way home on Interstate 64 west when Taylor said she put the vehicle in cruise control and the nightmare began.

Taylor said the speedometer continued to move up on its own and reached 90 mph.

She couldn't put the vehicle in neutral or get the accelerator off the floor board, even with the emergency brake engaged.

OnStar and Kentucky State Police tried to help.

Troopers caught up to the vehicle at the 58 mile marker. Thirty miles and 20 minutes later, KSP trooper Todd Wheeler placed his cruiser in front of the SUV and stopped the vehicle at about the 34 mile marker in Shelby County.

"It was one of the most frightening things I've been involved with since I've been involved with the agency," Trooper Mark Johnson said.

Attorney William McMurry is now representing Taylor.

"We simply want the manufacturer to investigate thoroughly. We want their cooperation so that we can all as a society to get to the root of what could be a very, very, dangerous problem," McMurry said.

So far, no lawsuit has been filed, but they've contacted GM, requesting the company begin an investigation.
