Rush Job Backfired- Obama Afraid To Debate?

Is Obama Scared to Debate Rush?
By Jeffrey Lord on 3.4.09 @ 1:06PM
American Spectator

Talk about too clever by half.

According to today's Politico story by Jonathan Martin, the entire decision to go after Rush Limbaugh was cooked up by supposedly clever White House aides and outside advisors. Says Martin in his story:

David Plouffe, Obama’s campaign manager last year and a member of his inner circle still, will publish an op-ed in Wednesday's Washington Post chiding Republicans for being "paralyzed with fear of crossing their leader.”

A senior White House aide has been tasked with helping to guide the Limbaugh strategy.

With the certainty that only a political idiot could not see, Rush has just taken these bozos up and called them out.

He has challenged Obama to a one-on-one debate on his radio show, no teleprompters please.

With an ineptness that leaves one breathless, the Obama team has now effectively labeled Obama himself as "paralyzed with fear" if in fact the President doesn't have the guts to accept Limbaugh's challenge. After all, if they claim that GOP chair Michael Steele and "Republicans" are cowards for not taking on Rush, Obama himself will surely have the guts to do what they claim Steele and Republicans do not: take on Rush Limbaugh one-on-one.

Not since 1981 when the striking Air Traffic Controllers Union dared Ronald Reagan to fire them has such a potentially momentous challenge occurred. In that showdown, union leaders smugly assumed Reagan would not have the guts to fire them as he promised. They guessed wrong. The resulting mass firings of thousands not only wrecked the union, historians later realized that it sent a sharp and chilling message to the leaders of the Soviet Union that Reagan was not to be fooled with. The event raised the stakes in the Cold War and famously resulted in sending the entire USSR to the ash heap of history.

Learning nothing from history, the Obama crowd has now set up a breathtakingly stupid proposition: either Obama debates Rush one-on-one or he is, in the words of his own staff, paralyzed with fear. Now there's a message to send to al Qaeda. The President of the United States has no guts.

Amazing.

They should of stuck to the "Natural Born" defense, and just ignored it! Maybe they can find a way to squash Rush with a court order!

They don't want to debate. Obama can not debate! He only gives speeches, and most of those are a meshing of past Presidents' speeches!

Obama's lawyers used this defense in the "Natural Born" case, I think it would also cause him "serious embarrassment", if he were to debate Rush.

Obama's lawyers in these motions, argued that revealing the information (birth certificate, citizenship in other countries, etc.) would “cause a defined and serious injury” to Obama and/or the DNC. They say revealing these documents raises a “legitimate privacy concern” and the above mentioned risk that “particularly serious embarrassment will result from turning over the requested documentation.” The source of that embarrassment was not specified.

This seems to answer Sandhusker's question also, "Why doesn't he just show his documentation?"

Amazing...absolutely amazing.

I really can't imagine that Obama would even take the time to consider something so preposterous as debating Rush Limbaugh. Talk about a waste of time and energy.

Why wouldn't they debate him, they are the ones that cast him as the new leader of the Republican Party?

The strategy took shape after Democratic strategists Stanley Greenberg and James Carville included Limbaugh’s name in an October poll and learned their longtime tormentor was deeply unpopular with many Americans, especially younger voters. Then the conservative talk-radio host emerged as an unapologetic critic of Barack Obama shortly before his inauguration, when even many Republicans were showering him with praise.

Soon it clicked: Democrats realized they could roll out a new GOP bogeyman for the post-Bush era by turning to an old one in Limbaugh, a polarizing figure since he rose to prominence in the 1990s.

Too late now. The Whitehouse has proclaimed him as "Leader" of the Republican Party, and have been spouting Rush for the last 3-4 days constantly to cover Obama's "Ominous" Budget Bill.

He either does it, or looks the coward.
CBS News:
Radio host Rush Limbaugh, whom the White House has repeatedly suggested is the true head of the Republican Party, is challenging President Obama to a debate.

“If these guys are so impressed with themselves, and if they are so sure of their correctness, why doesn't President Obama come on my show?,” Limbaugh said today. “We will do a one-on-one debate of ideas and policies.”

“They wanted me to be the focus of attention,” Limbaugh continued, referencing reports that the White House is working to tie him to the GOP. “So let's have the debate! I am offering President Obama to come on this program -- without staffers, without a TelePrompTer, without note cards -- to debate me on the issues. Let's talk about free markets versus government control. Let's talk about nationalizing health care and raising taxes on small business."

“If you can win at this, then come here and beat me at my own game, and get rid of me once and for all, and show all the people of America that I am wrong,” he added.

The White House had no immediate response to the request.

"If the first six weeks of the Barack Obama administration can be summed up in one sentence, it would be this: Obama fiddled with Rush Limbaugh while Wall Street burned. ... It’s reminiscent of Nixon’s enemies list, and it comes from the supposed messiah of Hope and Change."--Ed Morrissey, Hot Air.

Of course there is no "immediate" response...hell any response would be too much. Rush's fat ass is overloading his mouth...and who would even think to dignify him with a response...especially the President of the United States!

You just got to love these liberal crackpots they bring Rush to the fore front by telling people they are not to listen to Rush and when Rush challenges Obama, it is Rush that is overspeaking. The White House called him out Alice so now Obama either steps up and debates or he is going to look foolish. Not that this hasn't already made him and his Chief of Staff that has planned and is carrying out the attacks on Rush to distract from the real issues over Obama's broken promises, look like fools.

I think some of you are misreading the situation.

The White House is not elevating Rush.

They are doing the converse in pointing out how FAR some elements of the Republican base have fallen into the gutter.

Steele and Cantor groveling and making peace before "The Big Fat Idiot (TM)" is one of the most hilarious spectacles I have witnessed since I started paying attention to politics.

They have correctly identified a wedge between rational Republicans and the Wingnut Republicans.

I say get out the 12 pound maul and whack that sucker hard.

Well I think you are full of BULL

What has been correctly identified in this story by the Republicans is the desperation in the White House, it's Chief of Staff and his buddies at CNN to use this issue to distract the media while Obama pushes through another pork filled spending bill. Didn't Obama promise to go line by line of any spending bill to remove the pork before signing? :?
To bad some of the media is not being distracted and neither are the Democrat Senators that were on TV today saying they would not be voting for the bill due to the earmarks and are asking Obama to live up to his promise and Veto the bill.

BTW The one that should be whacked with a 12lb maul is the man that goes on TV and admits he doesn't care what the DOW is doing after millions of US citizens have lost billions of dollars since he took office.

Yep and for all the tinfoil rightwingernut conspiracy folks that think this is all a big leftwing conspiracy against Rush- I wonder how they got RNC Chairman Steele to do their work and say:
""He's an entertainer. Rush Limbaugh — his whole thing is just entertainment. Yes, it's incendiary. Yes, it's ugly."

or get the Republican Whip to agree with him... :???:

. Joining Steele in his criticism of Limbaugh was House Republican Whip Eric Cantor.

To me Steele just went up in my eyes for his honesty...But he doesn't fit many Repubs image of where they want the party- and will be gone....

Obama would get OWNED in any sort of a debate with Rush.

I mean he would have his arrogant, pompous, foolish, reckless, selfish rear end handed to him on a silver platter for the whole world to see.

There has never been a dog that has run as far or as fast with it's tail tucked so tight as Obama would from that confrontation.

I would order that event if it were pay-per-view.

Picture Obama laying on the floor, kind of off in the corner, in the fetal positon, furiously sucking his thumb. That is how he would look in a few short minutes in a debate with Rush.

I can just hear the uh's and the um's and the stuttering and the stammering.

You libs do me a favor. If this were ever to come to pass (and we all know it won't) please let me know. I would really, really, really hate to miss it.

As big of a fool as he is, Obama knows better than to walk into that trap.
