Sad Day

Corporal Dinning, one of the four Canadian soldiers killed in Afganistan yesterday was from our hometown of Wingham.

I did not know him, but his father, Linc, is on the local detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police and is a well known and popular officer in our community.

When he comes in for breakfast, Linc always has a "howdy", friendly word or a joke for those of us who frequent the local coffee shop. Smiles may be a little hard to come by for him now.

It sure seems wrong that a young man should have to give his life helping those who don't seem to understand or appreciate it.

May God be with the Dinning family.
