Saddle Bronc Rides and Other Notes from Cheyenne

Hey Rodeo Fans (that means Northern Rancher, for you newbies on here),

The saddle bronc riding was pretty exciting in Cheyenne in the final round. Jesse Bail posted the first really good score of 87 and he made it look so pretty. Looked like the one to beat. Didn't take long for Heith DeMoss to put up a tremendous ride to match Jesse's 87. In short order Cody DeMoss cracked out on Painted Valley to score an arena record of 91. Now that was some bronc riding!!

Trevor Brazile top-knotted his calf for a "no time" in the finals go-round. Clint Arave, a young guy from Washington state won the round and the average. Pretty excited fella.

I had no camera and took no pictures. You'd have to be in some pretty good seats to get action shots at CFD anyway. Pretty fun rodeo.

Another up and comer from Lewistown, Montana, Kyle Shobe, was the track announcer. He's also the newly-crowned World Champion Auctioneer. I met him a year ago and I like the guy. Glad to see him doing well.

Jesse Bail is a real hand for sure I don't think there's much he can't handle and everybody has to love the way the Demoss boys get after a bronc. Ty is up today in Stathmore get to watch some great broncs Awesome, Zippy Delivery Knight Rocket, Gallant Warrior-kind of crunch time he's got to win today to get some travelling money or else it's turn out up north and go home and bale hay for the neighbors. He starts his job with PFRA pastures in Sept. so that should be good. Thank you for the Cheyenne update hopefully hes entered up there next year at least in the rookie broncs. High Plains I think Oldtimer is a bit of a bronc riding fan too lol.

Our rodeo here is Sunday and Monday - and I got a chance the other day to look at the SB entries... 37 entered in the broncs including the DeMoss's, Jesse Kruse, Jake Costello and a lot of other toughs.....Many of the top 50- and several of the top Montana riders....A Daines boy from Alberta was the only Canadian I remember...(but Daines + SB = must be pretty fair  )

The committee has been upping the added money in the SB every year trying to draw some more good bronc riders in- and it looks like we've done it...Now if Brookman can mount them all it could be one good show...
So if anyone wants to see some good bronc riding- the evening of the 7th and 8th at the Northeast Montana Fair rodeo might provide it....

Got to see some great old campaigners today-John Wayne who they've won $360,000 off of was out. Gallant Warrior bucked off her man and I swear looked over her shoulder and winked at him. Bob Talman gave a very good speech about faith country and family before the rodeo was pretty though provoking.

Cort Scheer won Strathmore on Northcot's 'Get Smart' with an 89.5-he's a Wyatt Earp son and rank. Cort did a good interview in the Strathmore paper on how he likes Canadian broncs in four rodeos he's drew Get Smart, John Wayne, Atomic Betty and Knife Money-no wonder he likes it up here drawing that good lol.
