This is what I did this afternoon... Nothing compares to a wild Saskatoon pie!
We were checking the pasture, and found that the Saskatoon bushes by the road were loaded with berries. We dropped off the mineral, and I went back with bucket in hand. A half an hour later, I had enough for two pies. MMMM....... Wild Saskatoons are not consistent, and it's been at least five years since we've had a crop, so these pies just don't come along every day.
Another thing that is just as special is the location of the bushes. Everybody around here keeps it a big secret when they find a good patch. If you ask them where they pick berries, the directions you get will be only within a mile or two of the actual location. If you're lucky.
